Simply Books
Have a good look around and you'll get a feel for us, our shop and what we get up to. Whether you want to come to an event, join a group or find an unusual or inspirational gift it's all here - and every book you could possibly want is just a visit, e-mail or phone call away. Part of the magic of having an independent bookshop is sharing our passion for books with you.

It's the people bit of bookselling that we love! Talking to you, hearing about what you've enjoyed reading and making our own recommendations. We love to see our customers in person but if you're further afield, or it's hard to get in, you can still shop with us online (and ethically too!). Do sign up for our newsletter and hear what we're up to and you can follow us on social media.
Services
I'd always had this ridiculous pipedream about running a bookshop (with a cafe!) ever since visiting Barnes & Noble in Boston in about 1978. I got somewhat diverted by a career in the education service in Manchester (for 20 odd years) so it came as a fantastic liberation to leave the security (lol) of the public sector and set about creating Simply Books from scratch!
Whether you fancy a cup of tea, a cappuccino or a homemade cake we have plenty of delicious treats for you to choose from - everything is homemade either by us or local people. We think it's the perfect cafe in Bramhall Village! There are magazines to read, books to browse and if you have children there are activity tables and seating (and we can always park a buggy!).
Sue runs a Women's Book Club which meets at Simply Books on the first Tuesday of the month at 9.30am. We've been running our Book Clubs at Simply Books for over ten years - some of our members have coming along since day one but we always enjoy welcoming new people! We're a lively lot and a mixed age range from twenties to eighties!
When we won Children's Independent Bookseller of the Year Sue was invited to write a monthly column reviewing new children's books. She enlisted the help of a small group of children who became our first Book Reviewers. Things have snowballed since and we now have seven groups catering for children from Year 5 in primary school through to Year 11/12 in secondary school.
Ordering through us is easy - just call in, pick up the phone or e-mail us. A great way of seeing what's new is to come in to Simply Books and pick straight off the shelves. What better way for a whole staff group to share our excitement about books than for us to host a meeting in the shop. Enjoy afternoon tea and then we'll help you select books.

I nipped into the shop for the first time today specifically looking for a birthday book for a 6 yr old boy. The shop is full of beautiful books and gifts. The Staff were incredibly welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. It was an absolute delight shopping here. Not only did I leave with a fabulous birthday present I also treated my 5 yr old daughter & myself to a couple of books too. Nothing beats the feeling of a brand new book bought from a beautiful local shop. It definitely won't be my last visit next time my daughter can come along to pick a book for herself. I'd highly recommend a visit

I was after an in-print book that was published in 2006 which Waterstones had refused to order for me. Fortunately I contacted 'Simply Books', which I hadn't previously known about, and there was no problem at all. I would highly recommend this shop.

I haven't been able to go in a while sadly, but I used to work right next door and this store was always worth dropping in during my lunch break or after work. Everything is lovingly displayed and very modern with a broad selection. It is also run by a nice, helpful owner and his staff is great too! Can't wait to come back. 😊

This is the only bookshop left in Bramhall village and is a great independent little shop. Friendly staff who are always willing to help you find the book you are looking for. It obviously isn't a Waterstones but they can get hold of whatever you need. They also have film nights and book signings. It is well worth the five stars, well done.

A haven of civilised calm and learning. It is the best of all possible things; an independent bookshop fully engaged with the local population and their children's reading happiness. Bookshop comes complete with cafe and home made soup. What's not to love here?

Nice little independent book shop with a small cafe. You can also have coffee upstairs, quite a few little nooks to have a drink and a cake. Small selection of books, but what they have is interesting. Will visit again

Great impending book store in the heart of Bramhall. Nice little cafe which is ideal for kids. Regular book signings in store.
Yes books are cheaper online but this store is special, a must for book lovers and great for kids.

What wonderful people and a really efficient approach they provide. I often order my books over the phone, when the books arrives, usually next day, they send me a text to confirm availability. I appreciate a good service and I think its only fair that I pass my feedback onto others! Thanks Again. Ashley
