Join us to learn a sequence of 'initial scope' meditations following the presentation in How to Understand the Mind, exploring basic Buddhist views on the path to enlightenment. Following this 5 week series, we will continue the sequence of meditations on 'the intermediate scope' and then 'the great scope' of the stages of the path to enlightenment.

Dealing with people is such a big part of our lives. So, what happens when we find others difficult to live or work with? So often our priorities differ, our opinions clash, conflicts can build, and we can feel like another person is making us stressed and miserable. Dealing with those whom we perceive as difficult becomes an amazing opportunity to transform adverse conditions into our own spiritual development.

Had my first experience at Kadampa Meditation Centre today. The Buddhist teacher-Kelsang Gakyi talk was very relatable because she added in her own personal experiences to the talk. I also enjoyed that the 3 hour session involved a break where you can have a cup of tea and talk about the teachings with others that have came along.

Buddha compared our Buddha nature to a gold nugget in dirt, for no matter how disgusting a person’s delusions may be, the real nature of their mind remains undefiled, like pure gold. In the heart of even the cruelest and most degenerate person exists the potential for limitless love, compassion and wisdom.
Unlike the seeds of our delusions, which… can be destroyed, this potential is utterly indestructible, and is the pure, essential nature of every living being. Whenever we meet other people, rather than focusing on their delusions we should focus on the gold of their Buddha nature

The best little oasis of peace in the centre of Glasgow. Everyone is friendly receptive and kind. It has a very light uplifting atmosphere which I find inspiring. The peace one feels during meditation is so healing. You can hardly believe that such a space is situated in the heart of a busy city. I consider this place my second home.

I have been attending the parents and tots meditation sessions at Kadampa for 3 weeks (today is week 4) and cannot speak highly enough. What a great idea, the kids can play and assistants are on hand to help with the wee ones, while I have a chance to practice some meditation. The teaching topics are all so relevant to my parenting life and I have been feeling much calmer and able to cope with whatever challenges I come across. So good I've booked for the next block already!

I have attended talks at this calm, friendly oasis for about 4 or 5 years now. Looking back, I cannot overstate how truly beautiful these teachings are, and the positive effect they can have on your life. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have heard such enriching thoughts, always delivered by gentle teachers, with such humour and lucidity. You will find that these profound life-lessons make real sense and stand up to your own life-experience. Had they not been based upon the soundest rational thinking, my first visit would have probably been my last. Instead, my eyes, heart and mind have been

I feel obliged to comment and review following on from Gerald. I started going to the centre as I felt quite lost and depressed following the death of a few family members. I started grief counselling in conjunction via the Maggie centre, and I happened to see a flyer for a mindfulness event at the Riverhill coffee shop and decided to attend at the trades hall, and it was fantastic. I have been picking and choosing classes that suit what I need for the past 7 months or so ... and yes you pay to attend, but for me I find it very worthwhile to me. I remember vividly sitting in one particular class

The Kadampa Meditation Centre was opened in 2013, with the purpose of being a place for Glasgow folks to learn about the teachings of Buddha.
Over the last couple of years, I've visited the centre fairly regularly. My bestie was very into Buddhism for a while so i often went to Meditation sessions with him - now I just pop in now and again for a bit of me time.
The centre is fully staffed with volunteers and students, and there's always something going on - their website will give you a full run down of classes and different types of meditation sessions, including prices. There&apos
