The Birmingham Periodontal & Implant Centre is celebrating over 20 years as a dedicated specialist referral practice. We have been open for specialist treatments since 1997, however there has been a dental practice at 115 Court Oak Road, for well over 60 years. Dr Boota S Ubhi took over the practice in 1997 after completing his postgraduate specialist studies.
Since then the practice has seen major changes including having been renovated twice. The most recent renovation saw the addition of consulting rooms, a dedicated surgical suite and a postgraduate teaching room. There are two dedicated decontamination rooms for sterilisation of dental instruments for patient safety.

Gum disease (also known as periodontal disease, periodontitis or pyorrhoea) is an infection of the underlying supporting structures of the teeth. Periodontal means "around the tooth". Periodontal diseases are gum and bone infections caused by the bacteria (germs) in your mouth. These infections destroy the foundation, the gum and bone around your teeth.
Gingivitis is defined as inflammation of the gums and characterised by redness, swelling and bleeding gums. This is the mildest stage of periodontal disease and is common in adults as well as children. There is usually little or no discomfort at this stage and with treatment gingivitis is usually reversible.
As the gum infection progresses, more of the supporting tissues such as the jawbone is destroyed. The most severe forms of the diseases include extensive bone and tissue loss and unfortunately, we cannot grow the bone back in most cases. Teeth often become loose and may drift from their original position which can lead to gaps forming between teeth.
Gum disease (also known periodontal disease) is an infection of the support structures surrounding your teeth. Gingivitis is the most common and most simple form of periodontal disease and is something that can be cured just by maintaining good hygiene, making sure you are brushing at least twice a day and using mouthwashes that have been recommended by your dentist.

I’ve been attending BPI for 3 or 4 years & have always received excellent care from both Dr Jim Dufty & hygienist Greig Wilson. Every member of staff I have met have been polite, friendly & professional. Grieg is very gentle when undertaking a clean & I’ve never felt uncomfortable during the procedure. I recommend the practice.
