Premier Preservations Bradford
Fully qualified & family run business. We pride ourselves on our professionalism and offer a fast, competitive, reliable service covering Bradford, Leeds, Keighley, Harrogate, Otley, Ilkley, Huddersfield, Halifax, the M62 corridor and surrounding areas. Rising Damp is a result a capillary action i.e., the flow of water from the ground against gravity.

This is usually due to a lack of a physical damp-proof course [dpc]. The main sorts of fungal decay can be divided into two types, the so-called Wet Rots of which Cellar Fungus (Coniophora puteana) is the most widespread. A number of differing species have evolved, but, in this country, the most widespread by far and therefore the most important one to deal with is the common woodworm.
Services
The design of the waterproofing system should preferably be carried out by a C.S.S.W. (Certified Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing) who will work within the guidelines recommended by BS8102: 2009 'protection of structures against water from the ground' recommendations. Any work should be carried out by a PCA registered company.
Rising Damp is a result of a capillary action i.e., the flow of water from the ground against gravity. This is usually due to a lack of a physical damp-proof course (DPC). Where this occurs a damp zone usually extends to the whole length of the wall to a height of 500mm or more above skirting-board level.
There is always some moisture in the air, even if you cannot see it. If the air gets colder, it cannot hold all the moisture and tiny drops of water appear - the Dew Point. This is condensation. You also notice it when you see your breath on a cold day, or when the mirror mists over when you have a bath.
As the name implies, this type of fungus (which can develop in complete darkness) attacks timber which is in a permanently very damp or wet state. Commonly found in timbers that have become damp, wet rot cannot begin attacking wood unless there is a moisture content of at least 20% and, as a result, does not normally occur in internal timbers unless there is a significant dampness issue.
Premier Preservations have become specialists in this area of structural work, most of our work is carried out under the supervision of a qualified structural engineer or chartered building surveyor. We can also advise you on the appointment of a suitable structural engineer or chartered building surveyor.

Positive: Professionalism, Quality
Premier did the work remotely and the tenant was very satisfied, due to lockup and a lack of hotel accommodation I've yet to visit the site. The pre work report was excellent and now the tenant has this damp fixed.

Having experienced a very stressful 9months of continuing water ingress in my home, I cannot speak more highly of the final completion done by Premier Preservation. From start to finish their understanding and consideration of delicate issues in respect of necessary work undertaken has always been a priority and very much appreciated, together with every aspect of their professionalism and knowledge given to me when questions were asked. Very friendly and hard working employees were forever professional throughout which helped to alleviate any concerns and anxieties I had and frequent on site visits

I found premier preservations via my letting agent. They were quick and efficient with an initial inspection and report of works required.
Any question I asked were dealt with and simple explanations provided.
The work required was extensive... damp proofing, wet rot, dry rot and wood worm..
It was necessary for me to remove flooring and kitchen units to allow access to flooring and joists.
Work was completed in 3 days as quoted. Quality work and left the property remarkably clean, given the level of work done.
Thoroughly pleased with the whole service. Would recommend highly.

Premier carried out works to damp-proof my below ground utility room and kitchen and I have been very impressed by both the workmanship and management of the project. The end result is completely free of damp with a good quality finish for decorating. Fab!
Inevitably in an old house, a few bits popped up that couldn't have been accounted for (such as live hot water pipes cast in the concrete floor of the unheated utility room!?) but Peter and Dave were fantastic with communication and looking for solutions that were both time and cost efficient without cutting corners.
Overall a great experience
