Hardcore Crushing Ltd, a demolition contractor in Lancashire and its sister company Steptoe's Yard Ltd, a stone merchant and plant hire company are two local family companies owned and operated by Andrew Shorten. Together these companies employ over 30 staff and operatives, and both trade out of the same office on our 12-acre reclamation yard / urban quarry in Altham, near Accrington.
Whilst each company (Steptoe's and Hardcore) are separately listed businesses, they operate largely as a single entity; from a single location and share all available employee and plant resources. From humble beginnings; together the companies now have a turnover in excess of 3,000,000 per annum, with steady growth achieved over recent years, and with foreseeable prospects secure.

Hardcore Crushing carry out a full range of demolition and enabling works across a variety of sectors, our highly skilled demolition team undertake projects throughout Lancashire and North West England, we work with private individuals and large multinational companies. Below, you will find a selection of recently completed demolition projects that help demonstrate the versatility of our work and ability of our team.
Our aim on all demolition projects is to recycle as much material as possible and help the Client make the overall contract as 'sustainable' as possible. To that end, we salvaged all the roof slates for re-use and recycled c.50tons of scrap metals. All the general waste materials were filtered through local recycling centres to extract as much usable material as possible and to minimise the waste going to landfill.
Initially, we received a 'repeat business call' about an emergency demolition project in Warrington from a valued client who had suffered an arson attack at one of his properties on Millingford Industrial Estate, Golborne and he needed a badly fire damaged property making safe and demolishing.
We quickly attended site and took over the reins and we contacted key stakeholders like local Building Control, the Fire and Emergency services and the Utility companies in order to get the correct permits and permissions in place and to make sure that the structures were clear to dismantle, and we quickly had a 40 tonne demolition excavator on site, and with its specialist attachments and skilled operator we set to demolishing the dangerous fire-damaged structure.

Hardcore Crushing Ltd recently 'polished-off' another demolition for our Blue-Chip client Aldi at Lancaster, where we demolished a former B&Q DIY unit to make way for a new high quality, purpose-built Foodstore. The new store will create approximately 30 jobs for local people and this new development is being welcomed by local residents who sent over 50 letters of support to the council during the planning stages.

The project went according to plan and there was not one problem which was not resolved in a quick and professional manner. Finding a local, reputable demolition contractor with a consistent trading history led us to Hardcore Crushing. We would use them again if required in the future. A First Class Demolition Company.
