The Butlers Wine Cellar
Now in our fifth decade in Queens Park Road, with a second shop in Brighton's Kemp Town, mail order wines, an online store and supplying many of Brighton's best restaurants, pubs and bars, Butler's can claim the title of Brighton's Oldest Independent Wine Retailer. Whether you're after a midweek easy drinker, an upmarket weekend wine to go with Sunday lunch, or an iconic fine wine for a gift, Butler's is here to help you make the perfect choice.

Whatever your tastes, budget or level of knowledge, you can rely on Butler's to give you ideas, soothe your anxiety and send you on your way with a decent bottle. We're delighted to announce that Butler's has been named Independent Wine Retailer of the Year at the 2021 Drinks Retailing Awards. It's a big night for the drinks trade and this is one of the top categories, so we were thrilled when our name was read out.
Services
In 1979, Margaret Thatcher came to power, Sid Vicious died, and the AyatolahIn Khomeni was voted 'Man of the Year' by Time Magazine.

They were busy opening their small family-run wine shop in Brighton's Queens Park Road, with the intention of bringing interesting, characterful wines to a British public then largely unfamiliar with much beyond Black Tower and Mateus Rose (historical fact: there were only three good bottles of wine in the whole of the UK in 1979, and all of them belonged to Mick Jagger).
Owner and Brighton Celebrity - I'm the one who pays the bills, and generally gets told how cross and old fashioned I am. The phrase I mainly use is for f***s sake. I like all good drinks, in large quantities, shared with nice people. Butlers is in its fourth decade of retail and is a Brighton Institute run by our family of quirky and eclectic staff.
85% Mourvdre, 10% Grenache, 5% Cinsault Well-built structure with great mineral intensity. Firm tannins, generous. Caves de L'Abbe Rous is a company based above the seaside resort of Banyuls-sur-Mer in the. This is an organic and biodynamic Cabernet Franc from St-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, in the Loire Valley.
We have more whites than Farrow & Ball - around 300 different lines at any time. And trust us, every palate, occasion and budget is catered for. Explore our white wine collection and discover light, crisp everyday bottles, exclusive parcels of life-changing super-premium burgundies and everything in between.
Here's your entry point to our wonderful world of reds. We have over 400 different red wines from around the globe and every one is a gem. Our red range covers every style you can think of: Old World and New World; classic to quirky; midweek to special occasion; sub-10 to super-premium. Our sweet spots include red wines from both small and iconic producers in California, Portugal, South Africa and the Italian strongholds of Piedmont and Tuscany.

Amazing shop for wine, port, sherry, Madeira, beer and spirits. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Every single transaction is a joy. You don't need to be a wine boffin. Just go in and tell them what you're cooking and they'll match it. I would think you could even tell them your mood and they'll find a wine for you! Simply awesome.

What I love about Butlers is that if, like me, you know nothing about wine, you can go in there, tell them what you like and how much you have to spend and you'll be guaranteed to walk out with something great.
