Suitable for beginners or those with some background in soft furnishing, textiles or upholstery and those with an interest in the field, this course provides an invaluable pathway into a soft furnishings career. Students will be taught by a qualified tutor recognised for excellence in teaching, and a practising soft furnisher.
A leisure class run over 12 FRIDAYS offering your the opportunity to learn the skills of upholstery on your own project piece. No two seaters please! During Stage 1 you will develop your practical skills, gaining knowledge and experience in the manipulation of a variety of materials and processes, within the context of a series of individual set exercises and/or assessment projects.
Box cushions can be tricky but this one day course will guide you through the steps to create a box cushion with piping and a zip. You will be shown how to join piping perfectly, match corners and insert a zip. Bring your own fabric and make a custom made or sample size. All sundries supplied. A great introduction into the world of curtain making where you can create a hand headed curtain or a taped headed curtain.
The Loose Cover Cutting course is designed for those with some experience in soft furnishings and/or upholstery, and is designed to develop your skills. If you have a chair or suite that is comfortable, fits the room or is an inherited piece you can spruce it up with a cover that is cleanable and hardwearing - especially if there are children around.
