Concept Martial Arts Academy Belfast
Concept Martial Arts Academy are a club that trains in self defence and martial arts, we specialise in the concept of JKD, other wise known as Jeet Kune Do. We take what is useful from various styles and disregard what is useless, encouraging the student to develop their own style. Tonight Brian Fay expertly conducted a fun & interactive fitness training session for a group of Primary School Soccer kids.

Coach Brian taught the children some vital techniques in how to defend & protect yourself from an attacker, which could potentially arise from a troublesome situation. Really good class for developing new techniques that gave me confidence, which could come in handy for protection. All while get fit and loosing weight.
Services
Tommy Carruthers has over 50 years experience in the martial arts which includes training in military self-defence techniques (taught to him by his father), Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, Karate, boxing, Ving Tsun (four years with Nino Bernardo's clan), Non-Classical Gung Fu and finally Jeet Kune Do. Whilst training in western boxing, Tommy made something of a name for himself and became the subject of several tempting offers to turn professional.
At Concept martial Arts Academy Belfast we believe in training in basics and use the simplicity "Concept" of Jeet Kune Do ( JKD ). Although we are not limited to just JKD, we utilise and introduce a few other arts but again we only use what is necessary and modify them to suit what we do.

My experience is based on over 40 years training in various martial arts and it's actually more of what I've hacked away and don't teach during my experiences that makes my club differ.I really hate this term, as in real life it does not work. Although we train in some drills for speed and co-ordination with knifes we never say defence.
Concept Martial Arts Academy Belfast incorporates a perpetual grading system that focuses on growing and developing students skill sets throughout their progression at the academy. We aim to grade students on their knowledge and ability of multiple styles, we don't beleive in handing out belts for the sake of it.

Brian is a quality instructor who digently and patiently explains/demonstrates JKD principals and techniques along with a variety of other martial arts. The classes involve a good cardio workout, some observing/learning and a lot of practice with the group. There is good mix of people of various backgrounds and everyone I met in my 18 months was friendly and engaging.

Really good club, great range of styles and knowledge from all of the instructors. Tough workout, left the place sweating. Great sparring sessions with some of the guys and girls towards the end of class. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to expand on their martial arts, mma or self defence.
Thanks
