An Air Source Heat Pump works by absorbing heat from the air which can then be used to heat up radiators, underfloor systems, warm air convectors and hot water. The Heat pump draws heat from the air outside, even with external temperatures as low as -15C. They require electricity to run and so do have an effect on the environment but the energy they extract from the air is continually being renewed naturally.

Ground source heat pumps use pipes buried in the ground to extract heat, because the ground stays at a fairly constant temperature under the surface it means the heat pump can be used efficiently throughout the year.

There are two types of ground source installation, a ground loop which (as the name implies) uses loops of pipe to give the area needed to extract heat, this will vary depending on the size of your home and the heating requirements you need.If space is limited a vertical bore hole can be used instead, for some more detail have a look at our Groundworks for heat pumps.

In order to get the most from your system it is important to ensure it is working at it's best. We carry out maintenance and service calls on both our own and any installed systems this includes Panasonic, Nibe, Toshiba, Samsung, Kensa, Mitsubishi and Daikin. Most manufacturer's warranties are only kept if your system is maintained, usually on an annual basis.
