The Pier Hotel features in lots of old photographs and postcards of Gorleston. Built on the site of the old Anchor and Hope fishermen's pub and completed in 1897, it was part of a flurry of development in Gorleston towards the end of the Victorian. We're just a few metres from one of Britain's top-rated sandy beaches, close to the entrance of a historic harbour and at the heart of an unspoilt resort that never fails to charm visitors.

Services
Take our location, for example. We're just a few metres from one of Britain's top-rated sandy beaches, close to the entrance of a historic harbour and at the heart of an unspoilt resort that never fails to charm visitors. The beautiful Broads and the fine city of Norwich are close by. The Pier Hotel has 21 gorgeous bedrooms, a bright, elegant restaurant, a spacious lounge bar and popular wine bar.
Our south-facing bedrooms overlook Gorleston beach, a broad swathe of golden sand that the 2019 TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Awards placed eighth in its top-ten UK beaches category. Our guests get to experience a glorious sunrise before anyone else in the country and film director Danny Boyle, who stayed with us for a month, described the beach as "one of the great secrets of England."
Gorleston Golf Club is famous for being the most Easterly Course in the British Isles. The course lies on top of the cliffs ( which can be seen from the Pier Hotel ) with constant spectacular views over the North Sea. The course is gently undulating and playable by all abilities. The coastal breezes, small greens and excellent condition provide a classic sea side challenge.
The spacious Beach Bar and our wine bar, In Vino Veritas, are popular with local people, business customers and holiday visitors looking for a hearty bar meal prepared by our team of six skilled chefs. There's something for everyone on our Menu from sandwiches and snacks to classic meat and fish dishes.

We popped into the Pier Hotel for lunch. Service was prompt and cheerful. The mushroom, garlic and herb soup was so flavoursome and delicious. It was only let down by the mediocre pre-sliced bread that was served up with it (which is why I didn’t give 5 stars). Such a tasty soup deserved a rustic roll, or home made bread.
