Charlwood Hearing Care
Charlwood Hearing Care is your local, independent, family-run hearing care service helping people to hear more and hear better. We offer friendly, honest and impartial advice. To find out more about how we can help, make an appointment at one of our hearing centres across North Yorkshire, in Scarborough, York, Harrogate, Knaresborough, Helmsley or Hunmanby.

We're always happy to have an informal chat about your hearing and the hearing aids available that will suit your needs.
Services
Our aim is to provide a caring, professional service and to offer the best possible advice to our clients. For over 20 years the Charlwood family has been fitting hearing aids in North Yorkshire. Our main centre is located in Scarborough and is the Yorkshire coast's only dedicated independent hearing centre.
As well as assessing hearing and providing hearing aids, we also supply a range of high quality custom made hearing protection for musicians, industrial workers, motorcycle riders, recreational sports such as shooting and also earplugs for sleeping.

We can also supply custom moulds for iPods and MP3 players which are not only more comfortable than generic ear phones, but allow you to listen to music at a safer volume level by blocking out more background noise. We can offer advice and a range of devices to help manage tinnitus including white noise generators and maskers, bedside sound generators, relaxation devices and pillow speakers for discreet listening.
Scarborough is the location for our main branch, situated at the end of Aberdeen Walk in the town centre. We have a parking space on the pavement directly in front of the shop which customers can use, or there is disc parking free for 2 hours on the surrounding streets such as Victoria Street, Clifton Street and Dean Road.
We have two clinics available in York at VisionCare Optometry in Acomb and the Nuffield Health York Hospital on Haxby Road. We offer our full range of services here, including free initial consultations, full tests and assessments, hearing aid trials and microsuction wax removal.

As a registered consultant at the Nuffield Hospital, Neil is able to offer a hearing aid clinic for which the initial consultation is free of charge, but the hospital do make a direct charge of 78 for a hearing test. This cost is then deducted from the purchase of the hearing aids. Unfortunately we are unable to offer our microsuction wax removal service at the Nuffield.
There are many reasons why we stop hearing as we'd like to, and everyone can be affected, regardless of age. Hearing loss often occurs gradually, so that we tend to forget how things sound and therefore your lifestyle can be affected in a number of different ways. You have to turn up the volume on the TV or radio - often so that it is too loud for other people in the room.

I had my first visit today with my teenage son. Brilliant staff - both Helen and Julie on reception are so welcoming and friendly that this fills you with confidence before you arrive. My son had a microsuction procedure which completely solved the problems he's been having for months, so he's delighted. Everyone there was friendly and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hearing centre - the cost for the service is very reasonable and if I'd known how easy it was going to be, I'd have made the appointment months ago. Really impressed. Thank you to all of you!

Managing director should be much more careful with what he posts online. I have gotten a very bad impression of this business due to the behaviour and comments of the MD. I sincerely hope that he isn't as crass and arrogant with his customers...
Not quite sure what the owners response below is referring to... I have had no dealings with this man on Facebook. So yeah, definitely one to jump to conclusions.

When Yorkshire Hearing Care closed due to the death of the owner, Charlwood took over its customers including me. I have been very impressed to receive excellent service without any sign of commercial pressure to update my current aid and accessories. Excellent first impression!
