Blackness Marine
Inspired solutions to get you out on the water, maximising usage and minimising maintenance, enabling you to enjoy the pleasure of boating with peace of mind and simply enjoy the enchanting River Dart and surrounding coastline. Please ensure you contact our teams prior to arrival to ensure we can accept your boat, all new arrivals need to be pre-booked through the office at this time to ensure the required guidance is provided before arrival.

I have wintered my sailing boat at Blackness Marine for several years. The service is efficient and friendly. Repairs are done on schedule and the prices are competitive. I especially like the fact that it's a family-run operation that has grown rapidly but still maintains the personal touch. Gates are set to shut promptly, so be sure to allow enough time to recover and depart the site prior to the gate closing time which changes seasonally.
Services
We offer extensive engineering services and you don't need to be an existing customer to benefit from utilising them! All new and existing customers are welcome and our engineers have the expertise to keep you on the water. Our engineering services cover inboard and outboard engines and leg drives.
Designed for convenience our Drystack memberships are a perfect boating solution on the Dart. Totally eliminating the fuss factor from your days on the water!

The benefits include safe and secure residency of your boat in our purpose built Drystack hangar, reduced maintenance, no cleaning or checking mooring and of course professional assisted launch and recovery Easter - October so no pressure of self-launching at Dartmouth in the height of summer!See below some examples of cruising on the Dart and surrounds.
It is vital for those towing or larger deliveries not to trust a Sat Nav, this is rural Devon after all! To be sure, please follow directions as below, our neighbouring villages of Cornworthy and Dittisham get extremely narrow in places.

Follow road out of town going College Way past Sainsbury's until you pass Norton Park on your right, take the right turn at Henborough Post (Sportsman's Arms), go immediately left adjacent to pub car park heading toward Tideford, there is a Blackness fingerpost here.Follow these lanes passing Gitcombe Holiday cottages on your left, at the triangle junction bear right again finger post to Blackness.
Our Drystack is suitable for boats up to 10m LOA. Larger vessels will be moved to the outer yard over the summer and are guaranteed to be inside for winter. We currently dry out at low water so need to avoid approximately 1 3/4 hours either side of this depending on vessel size.

In the same manner that you would call us to launch your boat, please call ahead to arrange a lift down so you can work on her (subject to cradle availability and terms of the contract). Please note that for safety policies you may only have access to your boat between the hours of 09:30-17:00. If there's something more detailed which needs doing, our skilled crew will be happy to discuss this with you and carry out necessary work.
If you are interested in working with us please call us on 01803 722654 or email becky@blacknessmarine.co.uk with your current CV and covering letter. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced marine outboard engineer to join our team at Blackness Marine.

Our family run boatyard situated on the river Dart provides a range of boat storage year round, trailer boating and a large Drystack facility in a stunning location with private slipway. We host a range of on-site services - a marine engineering workshop, fabrication workshop, on-site rigger and maintenance contractors providing a comprehensive range of services to our customers year round.

We have stored our RIB in the covered dry stack at Blackness for 4 years - the service has been superb - everyone is friendly, and happy to help novices like ourselves. The engineering side is also seemless - a quick email sorts pretty much everything. On top of that, it is a simply stunning location and utterly unique for a "marina".

The dry stack facilities are first class. The staff are really helpful and we loved being able to phone up in advance, turn up and the boat was there waiting for us on the pontoon ready for another fantastic day on the Dart. Totally hassle free boating - perfect!

Brilliant place for a haul out and pressure wash or just for using their slipway.
Staff in the office and on the yard are friendly and professional.
Friends kept their boat there and have used it frequently and it's just so easy, a simple phone call and it's in the water ready to go!
