Babies spend 9 months in the womb, at home and completely comfortable surrounded by the feel of water. What a shame it would be to leave this water world and not revisit it at the earliest opportunity. Having been in-utero for so long most babies do have a natural affinity for water, and love the feel of it on their skin.

We're a family run, local business and proud of it. It means we're small enough to be approachable, flexible and friendly yet experienced enough to have been teaching babies in Yorkshire since 2006 and be considered experts in our field. Our fantastic team of teachers are all mums too, so they know how important your children's safety, happiness and ability in the water is to you, as well as how to get the very best out of them!
Babies are born with a number of reflexes which prove to be stronger and more prolific in the water. Our methods of teaching encourage the stimulation of these reflexes, such as the spinal gallant and the amphibian reflex, to achieve the move from reflexive action to a voluntary action. Muscular development is enhanced by the exercise enjoyed in the water.
From birth to around 12 months old, this is the foundation stage where you learn the basic holds, how to actively float your baby, swim with your baby and become really comfortable in the water together, as well as have lots of fun. Usually 1-2 years old, your baby will develop many skills at this stage, both on dry land and in the water.
Once your baby has been coming to classes for a little while, you will have the opportunity to book a slot in the next photo shoot for the chance to capture some truly unique and beautiful artwork. All our shoots are carried out by Swim-shots, the underwater portrait specialists. They use state-of-the-art photographic equipment in an underwater studio-style setting to ensure they get the best tot-shots possible.

We attended swimming lessons for the best part of 2 years. The teachers (Nicky & Jordan) were fantastic. My son absolutely loved it and it was a pleasure to see how he improved. The lessons were structured in such a good way of progressing through levels and gave him (and me!) a real sense of it being worthwhile.
Sadly, lessons were cancelled from March due to covid. Since then, communications from senior management have been vague and sporadic. Despite asking for a refund on several occasions I have been unable to get in touch with Aquatots the last couple of months. Generic emails sent out make

The swimming lessons and teachers were good and my son enjoyed swimming here and learnt a lot.
However, the way senior management have treated parents and staff during the pandemic has been with utter contempt.
Following the govt announcement that pools were to close, classes could no longer be delivered. In this instance customers have the right to a refund which was offered and then ignored. All lines of communication to management have been blocked leaving parents with little option but to take legal action.
Other providers in the mean time have been getting back into the pool with their

Love swimming with aquatots! Recommended by a friend and been swimming with them since Amelia was just a few months old! We’ve had some fantastic instructors and currently Swim with Jordan going into Otter level. She’s very understanding of anything going on with the little ones! You can really tell all the children love it! Thank you for the incredible life skills you have taught our daughter (and future children as we will definitely be continuing if we have more babies)

I love this swim school! I've been taking my son since he was 8 weeks old and he's now 10 months old and I've no intention of stopping. It's amazing to see children that are turning into competition winners and started their journey with aquatots, that's what I'd like for my son; to be a happy confident swimmer. Their offer to provide catch up lessons is amazing, it's free and it's easy to arrange. It means if my son is poorly I can rearrange for a time that is convenient for me.
I love our swim teacher, Sara Hall and the hydro swimming pool at Gloucester hospital is perfect.

From a family of relatively poor and unconfident swimmers eldest son had standard swimming lessons from age 5-9 and continued the family tradition, whereas youngest son started Aquatots at about 10 months ( in retrospect we could have started earlier) and is now age 8 the best swimmer of us all and complimented at school for his technique ! Couldn’t have done it without this fantastic team and their programme !

Have been doing Aquatots swimming lessons with my daughter since she was 4 months old. At just over 2 years old she now has a great deal of confidence in the water and has learned so many valuable skills. She absolutely loves her lessons, particularly with her current teacher who is truly fabulous with the children. All of the instructors we have worked with have been supportive and understanding, especially when your child may be having an off day! Excellent catch up system now in place too, making it easier if you miss a session. Would fully recommend Aquatots to anyone.

We have been swimming with aquatots for almost 2 years now, lisa and the aquatots team are helpful, patient, friendly, knowledgeable and understanding. My sons swimming goes from strength to strength with every lesson and I look forward to our lesson every week! I highly recommend everything aquatots, the teachers are fantastic and the staff in the office are always friendly and helpful when it comes to illness, holidays and organising catch ups and arranging Rebookings! Aquatots has been amazing for my son. We have taken him to lessons since he was 12 weeks old and he is now in his second term and is a different little boy in the water. When we began the sessions he didn’t always enjoy all the exercises. The staff were supportive and worked with him at his own pace within the sessions. Because the groups are small it allows for the teachers to spend quality time with all babies. Now he is confident in the water and enjoys all aspects of the sessions. The change in him after completing Duckling Level is amazing. The pools that Aquatots offer are also of high

Couldn’t recommend Aquatots enough. It is absolutely fantastic, my little girl has come on leaps and bounds with her swimming since starting. All the staff are outstanding and couldn’t be nicer and more helpful. We have gone to different pools and had different swimming teachers and they have all been brilliant and helped to settle my little girl and make her giggle and smile.
The support and events which they do outside of swimming is also fantastic and enjoyable.

Both our daughters are learning to swim with the superb Aquatots; Arrietty is just about to start 'Seahorse' level and Alethea has just completed her first term as a Duckling. Both the girls absolutely love the water and are developing such confidence as a result of the fantastic tuition that they are given. It's a great opportunity for daddy-daughter time, as he swims both the girls, and seeing how far they have progressed is amazing. Most importantly they are learning life-saving skills whilst having immense fun; I would highly recommend this Swim School.
