The Chiropody / Podiatry clinic has been owned and run by Irene Morgan (previously Aldred) since 2002 and her excellent service has been appreciated by all her customers from the local Selby area and beyond. Her friendly character makes people of all ages feel welcome and relaxed from the moment they enter the clinic, to the time they leave with their feet feeling so rejuvenated that many have said it feels like they were, "walking on air."
Services
The clinic is fully equipped with all the facilities you would expect of a modern practice. It has a comfortable waiting area, leading to bright and relaxing office where refreshments are available for patients. There are two fully equipped treatment rooms. With an access ramp and all facilities on one floor, the clinic is easily accessible to the disabled, less mobile and wheelchair users.
But in the UK, the term Chiropody was generally accepted to mean the treatment of the lower limb, especially the foot, and Chiropodist being the person who performs such treatment. In 1993, the more globally accepted terms of Podiatry and Podiatrist was taken up in the UK to clarify the role as being the treatment of the foot.
Each chiropody session usually lasts 45 minutes. Initially, each foot will be examined and any symptoms identified and described to the patient, along with a recommended course of treatment. This is done without recourse to any technical jargon, and every care is taken to ensure the patient fully understands the condition, why it may have occurred and exactly what treatment can be given.
You feet are important, taking your full body weight in most exercises from walking, jogging/running to sport. An average person takes around 8,000 steps covering several miles every day. However it is very easy to take your feet for granted. But there are several easy things you can do to help ensure your feet stay healthy and pain free.
Verrucae is the name given to a wart which grows on the feet. It is caused by the same virus that causes warts on other parts of the body (the papiloma virus). It is a contagious virus which readily thrives in wet or damp conditions.

It is transferred by direct contact, and as such is most commonly transferred in places such as swimming baths, communal shower rooms, and bathing areas, where walking bare foot over an infected area already stepped on by an existing carrier passes on the virus.Cuts on the feet seem to increase your chances of picking up the virus.
