The island of Boreray in the St Kilda archipelago is home to the world largest northern gannet colony. St Kilda was populated for thousands of years before the evacuation in 1930 of the 36 remaining islanders. My sister in law and I hugely enjoyed our trip to St Kilda, courtesy of Kilda cruises. Our hosts on the boat were polite, courteous, informative and attentive.

They looked after us with tea and cake and a dram. Being on St Kilda was just wonderful, enhanced by the boat trip round Boreray and the Stacks. The wildlife is amazing and the skipper was very knowledgeable about the islands. Thanks for a great much anticipated trip out to St Kilda. The weather was great with favourable sea conditions and plenty sunshine.

St Kilda is thought to have been inhabited for at least two thousand years. There are traces of Neolithic sites and of a Norse presence prior to the settlement by Gaelic-speaking Scots. At its peak the population approached 200 people who carved out a life in this remote an inhospitable environment.
Based on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, Kilda Cruises provides a fast and comfortable day trip service with St Kilda as our main destination and other outlying islands by request. Kilda Cruises pioneered the first day trip service to St Kilda in 2005. Over the years we have taken thousands of people to this remote and fascinating part of the world.
The Kilda Cruises boat is a large, powerful and comfortable vessel providing day trips to St Kilda. It offers seating for 12 people inside and also plenty of space for passengers to move freely outside while circumnavigating Borerary and the sea stacks. With with seating outside for 12 as well you can sit and relax and take in the scenery in the comfort that your photos will be steady and unblurred.
Purpose built to allow for fast and comfortable day trips to St Kilda and other difficult to access islands, the Hirta is an ideal vessel to maximise your time on St Kilda but to also allow you to enjoy your time on the open sea. Hirta is a 55-foot motor cruiser, which travels comfortably at 18 knots with a top speed of 29 knots.
The St Kilda group of islands looms from the Atlantic fifty miles west of Harris. As the remotest part of the British Isles they are a world apart from our everyday lives and one of the most important seabird colonies in Europe. The spectacular cliffs and sea stacks are a dream destination for ornithologists with puffin, fulmar, guillemot and of course gannets - the islands have the largest population in the world.

We went to the Shiant Isles with Kilda Cruises and there simply aren't enough words to praise the boat crew for their outstanding job. They helped us enjoy one of the best boat trips ever. Definitely recommended, worth every single penny!

What a wonderful trip the four of us had yesterday. The crew were unfailingly helpful and friendly on the trip, even welcoming us back on board at Kilda with delicious teas ,coffees and homemade cake! They also went well out of their way to land us back on Berneray through a shallow stretch to navigate.
My family have an unforgettable day on the island, very memorable visit which we have wanted to do for years, would recommend this trip to anyone. The icing on the cake was the informative trip round the stacks after leaving St Kilda, with plenty of time to be amazed at the bird-life, the stack
