These arched doors were designed to fit into an existing space on an extension built onto a Victorian town house in Ashton, Preton. Their installation had a marked effect on retaining the heat within the room as well as providing a distinctive feature for the interior. The construction was redwood (pine) thoughout using traditional methods of jointing and panelling.
This was an unusual commission for a carp pool which was to be a curved and irregular shape made possible by it's unique construction. Using railway sleepers laid vertically it was possible to build a sweeping circumferance which was then topped with treated wood cut to shape on a bandsaw. I was able to fulfill all the requirements of the clients design.
With an eleven foot span, this was quite a wide gate and unusually low. It was very important that the gate was strong and accurately constructed. Other factors to consider were a height clearance to be made in order for the gate to clear the up rising drive. The clients, Mr and Mrs Jolley, where very pleased with the work.
This double gate was part of an upgrading of previous gates and pergolas in a large Victorian House and garden in Fulwood, Preston. The wooden gate pictured was built to improve privacy and security. There is an exterior lock fitted with a sliding latch and keys. The redwood used in the construction was vacuum treated to protect it against decay and the posts, including those of the pergola are tannelised.

James fitted a reclaimed door on the garage, altered some kitchen cupboards, and repaired two shed doors for us. He was friendly, prompt, efficient and the work was completed to a very high standard. We were particularly impressed by his attention to detail and how much he cared about the process. Very happy to recommend him👍
