Kadampa Meditation Centre Edinburgh
As a registered charity KMC Edinburgh has been benefiting the people of Edinburgh and the East Coast for over 20 years providing authentic and practical meditation courses across the region. In 2018 we moved to a new premise on Leith Walk, creating a beautiful meditation hall, cafe and bookshop, providing a dedicated space for the development of inner peace.

We hope you may visit us here and experience the stillness and peace of this special place, dedicated to world peace. None of us ever choose to have painful feelings. If we could, we would never have them. Instead they just barge into our mind, destroy our peace and happiness, bully and intimidate us, and try to overwhelm us.
Services
Kadampa Meditation Center Edinburgh provides a quiet and comfortable environment where people can experience inner peace, learn about Modern Buddhism and meditate with a community of people who are all trying to improve the quality of their life, and our world, by improving the quality of their mind.
This is the perfect class to start with. The classes are suitable for both beginners and more advanced practitioners, and emphasize how to use meditation and subsequent practices amidst the busyness of modern, daily life. Take some time out to cultivate inner peace and enjoy the rest of the day with an inspired and positive mind.
None of us ever choose to have painful feelings. If we could, we would never have them. Instead they just barge into our mind, destroy our peace and happiness, bully and intimidate us, and try to overwhelm us. That's because they think we don't have a choice - and usually neither do we! This course aims to give us choice.
The Foundation Programme (FP) is designed for students who have gained a basic understanding of Kadampa Buddhist practice and are interested in pursuing a formalized and committed study programme. Studying and meditating more effectively following a specially-designed programme and qualified meditation teacher.
In general, prayers made by an assembly of many practitioners are very powerful and cannot be compared to the prayers of one or two people. The scriptures give the analogy of a broom. If we try to clean a floor with a few bristles we shall make little progress, but if we gather many bristles to make a broom we shall be successful.

Such a peaceful place! I went to one class and it has changed my view about meditation and I actually try to apply what I’ve learned everyday ever since. I’m so sad that there is still none Kadampa center in my home city. They have daily meditation classes in a peaceful, calm, nice room. Also the tea after it is just lovely.

A beautiful, peaceful oasis, in the heart of the busy city. Gentle, warm teachings that are equally profound and give real, practical solutions to our dairy toils. Totally accessible material and a welcoming environment which encourage people to go at their own pace.

I’ve enjoyed the classes and find the teachings very powerful. This is pure Buddhist teachings from an unbroken lineage. The teachings are very accessible to non-Buddhists and Buddhists alike. The resident teacher is very experienced, and I enjoy the friends and fellowship.

It has changed my attitude towards life and people. It is such common sense but you say 'why did I never think of that'? I am in much more control of myself with no stress or anxiety likely to interfere and have met wonderful people.
