Slides, Swings, Seesaws and Springers - the four S's - they are all freestanding playground equipment. KOMPAN has been at the forefront of playground design for half a century. Since a happy observation that turned some urban art into play features, the design teams and behavioral specialists have continually pushed the bar higher in terms of the joy and benefits a playground generates.
They called it crazy, but it was anything but mad. The Crazy Hen, a KOMPAN invention, started a playground revolution. Like many great ideas, the springer system is incredibly simple. A single ultra-strong flexible steel coil, securely held in a sunken foundation, has been the inspiration for a universal playground classic.
The seesaw is one of the oldest and most traditional of playground features. For centuries it was also one of the most basic, a plank balanced on a central fulcrum. Then along came the Springer. The Crazy Hen is not a seesaw, but KOMPAN's design team instantly saw that the spring as a fulcrum had immense potential, especially if you employed more than one.
