Register Of Chinese Herbal Medicine
Established in 1987, the RCHM (Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine) is a professional organisation with over 300 members.

The RCHM helps ensure excellence in the practice of Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) by making it a requirement of membership that practitioners have a degree-level qualification in CHM from a UK institution independently accredited by the EHTPA (European Herbal & Traditional Medicine Practitioners Association) or an equivalent qualification verified in an interview with members of the RCHM Council; for more details, see Training in CHM.
Services
Becoming a member of our organisation means you'll join a lively and supportive network of over 450 practitioners of Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) and enables you to access a range of specialist benefits, including CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and the opportunity to access audited supplies for your herbal medicines via our Approved Suppliers Scheme.
Every 6 months, the RCHM runs 'Getting to the Root' information weeks to make accurate information about Chinese Herbal Medicine available to the public. Our aim is to show why, for many conditions, CHM is such an effective and safe treatment choice. By presenting informative articles, patient stories, and recent research, we hope to offer you a glimpse of what can be achieved for patients by skilled CHM practitioners.
Chinese Medicine (CM) has been practiced in China for over 3,000 years. But this long history doesn't mean CM is either simplistic or backward in comparison to modern biomedicine. Sustained by centuries of empirical clinical evidence, CM has evolved into a complete and highly-nuanced system that offers a coherent alternative to the Western medicine's view of how and why we get ill.
The RCHM is the only organisation in the UK dedicated to promoting Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM). We're a diverse community of motivated and highly skilled individuals who've come to CHM via many different routes, but who are all sustained by the knowledge that every day our unique form of medicine is offering significant benefits to patients.
Please note that staff in our office only deal with administrative matters and are unable to answer individual queries relating to the use of herbs, e.g. the effectiveness of Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) in treating a particular health condition or the potential for side effects etc. Any questions regarding treatment should be referred to your CHM practitioner.
