Both BTPP's Charity and Trainings arose out of a conviction that all children have a right to be able to access therapy and other essential services delivered by well-trained therapists and professionals. BTPP believe that this is true for all children and for those who care for them, particularly so for the most disadvantaged and needy children in the West Midlands.
When Shirley and Brian moved to Birmingham from the Tavistock Clinic there had been an infant observation course run by Dr Linda Winkley, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, who had recruited Barbara Forryan and Beta Copley, both Child Psychotherapists, to teach in Birmingham.

Services
The course is delivered by BTPP in association with the Tavistock Clinic and the University of Essex. The Infant Observation component, always excites and can feel overwhelming for participants. How better to learn about the development of the individual than to observe from the early beginnings. Infant Observation involves observing a baby from as near to new-born as possible, in an "ordinary" family, for an hour a week.
All of our clinical tutors are practicing child psychotherapists, working across NHS, Independent sector and private practice, and collectively bring a wealth of clinical experience in a wide range of clinical settings and specialisms. Kevin is an Infant Observation Tutor on the M7 Psychoanalytic Observation Studies Course.
