Richard is an excellent teacher, and his guitar school really does strike a perfect balance between having fun and playing seriously.
Our son spent 6+ years under Richard’s tutelage, and in that time he not only learnt a great deal about the guitar and guitar-driven music, but also got to perform in a string of the guitar school’s fantastic showcase gigs.
The whole experience was very positive, and I think really helped our son with his ability to focus, and also built his confidence in getting out there. It’s not an easy thing, to get up on a stage in front of an audience, and I’d say

Richard has been teaching our sons for over a year and they love the lessons. The choice of music is exactly what they like (and now listen to all the time!) and this interest keeps them motivated to practise at home as well. The boys are very shy and Richard is very good at keeping them chatting and feeling at ease. They always come out of their lessons excited to play the next song and they have learnt so much in just a year!

Richard has been teaching my daughter for just over a year and she loves her lessons. I like that Richard isn't just teaching her how to play the guitar but teaches music theory as well, and is introducing her to some very cool music along the way! He tailors his teaching to each of his students and makes it fun, lessons during lockdown were really good and well managed but we are really pleased to be getting back to face to face lessons this week :-)

Positive: Quality
Richard taught my son for 8 years and gave him the skills and confidence to play in public as well as jam with other musicians. He has never looked back! I still go to him for lessons and really enjoy our lessons despite the fact it is difficult for an old dog to learn new tricks!

Richard is s fantastic guitar teacher and I thoroughly recommend him to anyone thinking about taking up guitar lessons either for themselves or for their children . My son has had e-guitar lessons with Richard since 2016 and loves it. Richard is very approachable and has a gift for communicating with children and young people . He meets them where they’re at and by teaching contemporary music and well known riffs even from the first lesson onwards, his pupils have a sense of achievement and success early on. Regular Workshops , Show case evenings and the traditional charitable Christmas Busk

Our daughter has been having lessons with Richard for about 2 years and has absolutely loved it. Richards approach using classic rock tunes and making it super fun has inspired her to fall passionately into the electric guitar. Such a great teacher. 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

Richard has taught my son, now 16, for nearly 6 years which I think shows what a great teacher he is and the rapport he builds with his students. Lately the lessons have been over Zoom because of COVID and my son still, enjoys them and is learning new tunes. Richard is easy going, and gives relaxed, no pressure type sessions which means that my son wants to do them even through exams and other time pressures. Being able to play the guitar is a life long hobby and Richard really does inspire a love for guitar music and playing.

If you tell our daughter about Richard, her very first guitar Teacher, you will see stars in June's eyes... He always knew how to motivate and encourage her with gentleness and kindness. Yes, it's not easy to learn to play the guitar with non-musical parents ! The humor of his passionate Teacher captured June's heart. It was an excellent driving force for our 9 year old daughter Today who continues to have fun on the electric guitar. Bath Guitar School has always been very rich in advice ( Richard always takes care to answer parent's questions with remarkable speed). We are very happy for June

I have been attending lessons at Bath Guitar School for ten years now, where I have practised and performed for gigs, week-long "rock camps", and busking alongside casual lessons. These experiences are consistently friendly and engaging as Richard is an entertaining and highly skilled player with a great sense of humour. His adaptability enables him to teach any song at any pace, and his upbeat attitude combined with excellent teaching has helped me make great progress and motivated me to continue playing over the years.
Would highly recommend to guitar players of any expertise!

Richard is a fantastic guitar teacher. Our son has been taught by him for over two and a half years. It has been wonderful to see how he has flourished during this time. I never thought that after such a short time he would be playing complex solos, reading music and playing in live performances such as the excellent biannual club nights at Moles night club. Our son had two teachers prior to Richard and he made very little progress in comparison.
