Kadampa Meditation Centre Manchester
Modern Kadampa Buddhism is a special presentation of Buddha's teachings for the modern world. It is open to everyone whether Buddhist or not regardless of nationality, age or gender. Kadampa Meditation Centre Manchester is located in Chorlton, Manchester. Currently, we do not have a City Centre space but do keep checking the website as we are looking for a new location.

It is part of a large international network of Kadampa Buddhist centres, established by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. The purpose of the centre is to provide a source of peace and harmony for all the people of Manchester by giving access to reliable methods for developing inner peace. The centre is open to everybody, regardless of belief, background etc.
Services
Over 1,300 centres around the world where you can study and practice modern Kadampa Buddhism in the local language. Modern Kadampa Buddhism is a special, practical presentation of Buddha's teachings that is particularly suited to the modern day. Open to everyone, these International Festivals are a wonderful opportunity to meet with Buddhist practitioners from all over the world.
The 2021 international brochure showing the latest developments in Modern Kadampa Buddhism worldwide, and the international teaching program of Festivals and Dharma Celebrations for the year is now available. Set your sat nav to M21 9XF there is free parking on the streets around the Centre. If you come from Chester Road take the turning at Stretford Mall along Edge Lane.
The classes are all seated and you are welcome to sit on a chair or on a cushion on the floor. During lockdown and restrictions, most classes are streamed online, when lockdown is over then most of our classes are drop in. However for half day courses and evening classes in the city there is a discount if you book in advance.
As part of our General Programme (GP) these weekly classes are designed to help those looking for Buddhist wisdom to help with stress relief and relaxation, as well as those interested in exploring the nature of the mind, and pursuing the Buddhist path. A typical class consists of a guided meditation, a teaching based on the meditation topic, discussion and final meditation.
In-depth retreats for those studying on our Teacher Training Programme and for those who wish to go deeper with their practice. Guru Yoga and Mandala offering retreat combines two of the four great preliminary guides that we need to practice if we want to gain mahamudra realisations - the quick path to enlightenment.

I've had two amazing teaching this week at KMC Manchester - one on Thursday from Jeff on self grasping and a second one on Saturday from Claire on exchanging self for others (or something like that!). Both of them are FANTASTIC and both touched me with their words. Thank you!!

Welcoming normal people who guide great meditations and give practical advice for daily life. I've been attending for ten years and always find benefit from going to a class.

I went to 2 lunchtime classes, today and yesterday. They were with Sam and Dave. I enjoyed them both, and my mum came with me today to the class and she enjoyed it as well, said it was relaxing.

The World Peace Café is a beautiful oasis of calm and cakes in the busy suburb of Chorlton. It's light and airy and full of sunshine on clear days, thanks to large windows to the front and rear of the venue.
The food offered is vegetarian and vegan, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's not tasty. The salads, soups and dhals are amazing and the cakes are extraordinarily good. There's a wide selection of of teas and coffees on offer to accompany your nibbles, and plenty of options for children, as well as high chairs for the little ones.
Customer service is excellent, as you might imagine

I used to meditate here regularly when I worked in the same building. Yesterday was my first time back since the summer and I really enjoyed the session by Vicky who I hadn't met before. Always a welcoming place and only £3 for the lunchtime meditation which is such a bargain for how relaxed and stress-free you feel afterwards.

The meditation centre is very welcoming with a friendly and peaceful atmosphere. There are many events, classes and workshops with very knowledgeable teachers catering for all levels or experience of meditation from first time to highest levels. Although obviously a Buddhist centre the emphasis is on meditation, I was made to feel welcome from the first time I stepped though the door.
