JWS Marine Services has earned an excellent reputation for performing boat fibreglass repair and fabrication. The key to quality marine fibreglass work is preparation and quality materials. With over 22 years of marine fibreglass experience, we produce consistent high quality work. At JWS Marine Services we are constantly working with manufacturer reps to stay abreast of the newest marine fibreglass products and processes.
There are many advantages when using Copper coat anti-foul application such as extra efficiency, the unique blend of biocides ensures ultra-low growth rate. With such low leach rate, it is completely low maintenance, once applied there is no need for the annual lift out, removal of old anti-foul and a new layer applied as this is proven to last for at least 10 years.
Osmosis is when water penetrates through the gel coats and mixes with the binders that hold the glass matting together or any uncured resin left over from moulding, this caused a chemical reaction resulting in larger and often acidic molecules being formed.
These larger molecules are trapped and cannot pass through the GRP, so they just sit there causing the gel coat to bubble into what are commonly known as 'blisters' and when popped a vinegar scented fluid is released.Osmosis prevention for older boats is more complex. Accurate and regular readings are important to ensure the epoxy is not applied to a wet hull.

The man behind JWS, Mr John Shaw, has a real passion for the wooden classic sailing boats and is proud and feels privileged to have has the opportunity to work on some real classic boats of all types, sizes and age. This work can vary from removing the old caulking, cleaning seams to the re-caulking and is not a straight forward job, if done incorrectly, can cause the boat to sink once launched.
