Over the years I have been in a pile of bands and have gained plenty of live experience - I was usually the main songwriter in any of the bands I was in, when we weren't playing covers by everyone from Neil Young to The Jam, The Rolling Stones, Oasis, The Beatles, Bob Marley etc.- you name I've probably play ed it at some stage!.

I have always been passionate about music and it basically "took over my life" - from my early teens. I have been playing for the last 25 years (from I was 15 years old) - starting on drums, then moving onto Bass Guitar and finally settling on Electric Guitar - I feel the guitar suited me best. Once I got "hooked" on guitar that was it - I never looked back.
Home lessons are in a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. I like students to feel at ease and also to feel free to suggest songs etc. they would like to learn. Playing on an Electric Guitar is much easier in general mostly because the strings are so much easier to hold down. As mentioned above some people feel starting on Acoustic is better, but its really the students preference at the end of the day.
As time goes by and students leave lessons, Updated regularly. Lessons have been continuing on Skype and Whats App and have been just, if not more, successful than face to face lessons. Please do not let the "video" aspect of lessons put you off - you can still achieve your goals and learnt o play as youve always wanted.:
As you can probably imagine there are an awful lot of songs covered in lessons during the course of a month never mind a year. As I like to structure lessons around students "tastes" this means there is a very diverse range of music and styles covered from easy listening i.e, Simon and Garfunkel to full on metal with more modern stuff like Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet For My Valentine.
Firstly, plectrums come in many different shapes and sizes. Its best for rhythm playing to purchase a plectrum that has a bit of "give" i.e, it bends a bit letting it brush across the strings more easily. A few good makes of plectrum and Jim Dunlop, Fender Gibson and even some of the cheaper makes can be quite good.

James has excellent teaching skills and he is very kind friendly ,patient and always full of encouragement My son is not only learning but he is also enjoying and looking forward to every lesson! He makes sure that my son knows exactly what to practice and how to practice. In addition to that he also provides him with videos if needed. James is a great teacher and there has been a huge improvement in my son's playing since he started couple of months ago. highly recommend James as a teacher!

Before I made contact with James I had started and then quit trying to learn the guitar on numerous occasions, but since I’ve been taking lessons with James about 16 months ago I haven’t looked back since.
Brilliant teacher, extremely knowledgable and clearly passionate about his craft.
I’ve missed lessons on a number of occasions due to work commitments but he’s always asking if there is anything he can do in the meantime to help, like send videos across or answer any questions I might have, he’s very much got his students best interest at heart and wants to see them do well.
