Urban Stage was founded in 2003 by professional actors Simeon Truby and Helen Kay. We offer students the opportunity to learn new skills and gain confidence through the performing arts. At Urban Stage the emphasis is on performance, with all students having the opportunity to work with and learn from highly experienced and dedicated professional performers.
Our live theatre performances are not only entertaining for students and audiences, but are also an invaluable learning experience that helps greatly with confidence, creativity and team working skills. Classes are a mixture of acting, dancing, singing, improvisation and drama games.

Services
As part of our 10th Anniversary celebrations in 2013, Urban Stage was excited to announce the appointment of it's Patron, Oscar nominated actress Imelda Staunton CBE. In 2011 Urban Stage principal, Simeon Truby, performed in the Stephen Sondheim musical 'Sweeney Todd' at Chichester Festival Theatre alongside Imelda and Michael Ball.
As part of Imelda Staunton's patronage of Urban Stage, we offer up to 4 scholarships a year to students who have difficulties in affording the course fees. Anyone can apply for the scholarship, whether new or existing students. If there are more than 4 applicants for the scholarship in any given year, all applicants will be offered an audition and interview to decide on those who will receive the scholarship.
