The company was established in 2007 by Sarah Waterhouse, who designs all fabrics and also prints every piece of fabric by hand from her studio at Yorkshire Artspace in Sheffield, England. After falling in love with Lino printing at college, Sarah went on to teach herself screen printing and pattern design after completing a degree in History of Art & Design in 2003 at Sheffield Hallam University.
Whilst working part time for a local art gallery and museum, Sarah started her business and then began selling at local events in 2008. In 2009 Sarah moved her practice from home and took her first studio at Yorkshire Artspace. Sarah and her husband Owen moved to a larger studio space in 2012, with their 4 metre hand built printing table.

All cut fabric and custom printed fabric sales are final and cannot be returned unless there is a fault with the fabric. For all other items you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receipt of the item. You may then return your item within 30 days of delivery for a full refund minus postage costs.
When you add an item to your cart the shipping is calculated based on your destination and weight of your purchase. We ship to most countries across the world, please contact us if we don't ship to your destination. All parcels are sent 1st or 2nd class via Royal Mail within the UK, you should receive your item in 1-3 days.
All of our fabrics and wallpapers are printed by hand in our studio in Sheffield using screen printing techniques. Our 10.5 metre table dominates our studio space and never fails to wow visitors due to it's size and beautiful simplicity. Very few companies in the UK still hand print fabrics in this way.
Sarah Waterhouse has a strong environmental and ethical policy which has been at the core of the business since we began in 2007. Every element of production aims to reduce our impact on the planet. We use only high quality materials to create a product that has been made to last. We have always chosen to print only on environmentally friendly fabrics such as hemp and organic cotton.
We work with talented local upholsterers and soft furnishing specialists here in Sheffield to help you transform your furniture using our fabrics. We can also supply fabric directly to your chosen upholsterer in your area. Our hand printed upholstery weight fabric has an abrasion test result of 26,000 and our digitally printed fabric has a count of 40,000 rubs both suitable for home interiors.
