Haffenden Aviation is a CAA registered facility providing first class aviation training at Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent. The Chief Flying Instructor John Haffenden is a career instructor having achieved a frozen Airline Transport Pilot's license which included the multi engine Instrument rating and a multi crew course on the Boeing 737.

The other instructors are similarly qualified and care is taken to make sure that a student stays as far as practical with the same instructor, except for progress flights. There is nowhere quite like Headcorn. This all year round grass aerodrome with it's effectively drained runway is usually the last to give in to adverse weather which is long after the other grass strips have closed.
Services
Of all the flight instructors I have known, John is the the best to learn flying with. Some instructors are very relaxed, others can have a very militaristic approach to flying - John is the right mix between the two and he can adjust the training based upon your own needs and objectives. Five years ago I was learning to fly purely for fun but eventually this translated into a desire to become a commercial pilot.
Experience flight 45 minutes in a 2 seat aircraft More time to get to grips with the handling and if you live within 40 minutes driving time of the Headcorn you'll probably get a chance to fly over your house subject to airspace. Student flight 60 minutes in a 2 seat aircraft. This is the normal flight duration for an individual keen to learn and move forward towards their pilot license.
New Private Pilot Licence (PPL) ground school lectures - online and in person in the South East of England. The new 2015 course can now be accessed online by logging on to the site and playing the "catch up" lectures. The lectures given to those students who attend the sessions are recorded so that if they miss a session or wish to revise a lecture they can do so at their leisure.
Headcorn Aerodrome can be reached by car, train and of course plane and is based in the heart of the beautiful Kent Countryside, 15 minutes south of Junction 8 of the M20. The majority of our visitors arrive by car. A more detailed description of how to get to us is given below. By train Headcorn Station is located on the London Charing Cross to Ashford International Station line.
