Wrkm8s design was formed in 2007 with just two business partners, Rosemary and Tom, who both have an extensive background in graphic design and page makeup. Today we're still a business of only two partners.
In the early months we discussed possible strategies for growth, but we realised that at the heart of it all was the fact that we were able to offer a personal and affordable service for customers who needed day-to-day help with their marketing communications.

Occasionally we still encounter the odd person who has no idea what graphic design actually is. The way we like to describe it, is as a place where two very different disciplines collide. From one direction we have art, which exists to stimulate and promote/provoke thought. From the other is design, which is the process of creating something that physically works, whether it be an engine, a bridge or whatever.
Some of our clients have strong marketing heads on them, so they know what they want to advertise, which angle to take and where they want to place their ad. But not always and we're happy to get involved as much as you need us to. We have experience writing, visualising and producing ads for both trade and retail purposes, liaising with publications and creating final artwork to spec for application across print and web.
Page setting is our bread and butter. Often required for text-heavy or lengthy documents like training manuals, commercial reports and even books. Or sometimes for smaller documents like forms or questionnaires which benefit from clarity over creativity. Page setting also often involves the systematic building of document content, in the styles and rules which have been predetermined by design.
As far as our experience has told us, the potential uses for illustration are enormous. Whether they're produced digitally or hand drawn and filmed real-time, we've had countless requests for them. We've produced storyboards for commercial directors, background illustrations and animations for short films.
