Dolgamedd is a quiet, laid-back, family run caravan and camping site on the banks of the River Wnion, near Dolgellau in Snowdonia National Park. We are surrounded by mountains, lakes and rivers and the coast is only 10 miles away. For Bank holidays and school holidays it is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Services
All hook up pitches require different length cables so telling us how long your cable is could be very helpful. Cae Gwair (Hayfield) is a field specifically for long stay caravans, all pitches fully serviced. Y Lefel Uchaf (The Upper Level) has hard-standing and hook up points for caravans and campervans.
No one likes hearing about rules, but our campsite rules are created with you in mind, and help to ensure that everyone on-site has the best possible experience. Opening times will be displayed at Reception. When Reception is closed an emergency contact number for the Site Manager will be displayed on the door.
Forget about towing those caravans back and forth all the time - save on time, money, effort and patience, not to mention those fuel bills! All fully serviced with mains water and piped gas. Please note: We have no caravans for hire; all static and touring caravans are owned by our visitors. We deal with Salop Leisure Caravans based in Shrewsbury and Machynlleth where they have a vast selection of caravans.
There are plenty of walks directly from the campsite along public footpaths, as well as the beautiful Torrent Walk 2 miles up the road. We also recommend Llwybr Cynwch/Precipice Walk 3 miles away. For the fit, Cadair Idris (893m) is a gem, as are both Aran Benllyn (885m) and Aran Fawddwy (905m), and all manage to avoid the hordes you'll get on Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa (approx.
Take the A494, Bala to Dolgellau Road; at Bontnewydd, which is 3 miles from Dolgellau, take the B4416 (sign-posted Brithdir), continue over the bridge, we are immediately on the left. Please ignore Sat. Nav directions, which will often take you along a narrow track to the Farmhouse. If coming from the A470, you can take the sharp right turn for the B4416 (sign-posted Brithdir), and we're on your right just before the A494 junction.

We have been to this site on and off now for over 15 years.
Lovely friendly owner, and nice, clean facilities.
Tent camping is alongside the river, with fires allowed in designated fire pits, tables provided, and stands for barbecues.
Also a nice rope swing over the river, much enjoyed by my teenage daughter and friend.
