The team here all understand the importance of independent, local suppliers and very much enjoy being part of the thriving local community and diverse culture that Inverurie offers it's shoppers. Picture framing has been a huge part of Mark's life since he was fifteen years old (a staggering forty years, not that we're counting!)
Mark, James and Jack VettrianoNot many of us are lucky enough to have found our calling at the age of 15, but Mark Gask is one of them. Even before he was old enough to drive, Mark ran his own business selling art door-to-door in the English Midlands; his customers would choose from a range of historical English landscapes or Dickensian scenes to be framed to their own tastes by the young Mark.
The gallery hosts the largest collection of contemporary art in the North of Scotland, with over 2,000 square feet over two floors. Along with the gallery and our sister Huntly shop we have one of Scotland's largest framing facilities. The gallery's coffee shop is a great place for mums to grab a coffee during a busy day with the kids, within a few yards of the town's Tesco and Marks and Spencer.
Own Art makes buying art easy and affordableby letting you spread the cost of your purchase over 10 months, you can borrow as little as 100 and up to a maximum 2,500 with an interest free loan. Coffee excellent. Scones excellent. Ambience very good.
Covid-19 arrangements non existent. No sanitiser. No recording of contact details. No regard for one way system. Owner and customers viewing paintings stood at the end of our table and talked loudly about paintings within 2 meters, without face masks for over 5 minutes.
Will not go back.
