Making Waves is a company that is dedicated to teaching children and adults to swim. For 16 years, we operated from freezing health clubs and school pools that left a lot to be desired in terms of cleanliness and reliability. It was our vision to create a facility that matched our service, one that was sparkling clean, warm pool and atmosphere - for being cold exaggerates fear, with plenty of warm showers and lots of room for changing.

We designed the pool with a toilet right beside it to minimise the disruption to children's learning, and to increase child protection. We chose the Dryden glass complete daisy system, to ensure that not only was it more environmentally friendly, it was kind to children (and their teacher's!) We installed a glass balustrade, giving full open view of the pool and put in a cafe to allow parents to relax just a little.
Services
Our exclusive, purpose-built swimming facility at Stewartfield Way in East Kilbride uses state-of-the-art technology to give you the healthiest, cleanest and most comfortable swim possible. Our advanced filtration system minimises the amount of chlorine needed. This ensures that not only is the water clear and clean, it is less polluting and less irritating for children's skin and hair.
Your child will be in the water with their instructor and need to know it's OK to trust them and do as they ask. It's natural for children to feel nervous about new things, people and places. We all remember the first time a child went to nursery, or school. Kids can get anxious over something new, even something they grow to enjoy, and even when we know they'll be safe.
Bubble Babies classes are baby swimming classes designed for little ones from 6 months to 3 years old. From 6 to 18 months, we work with the parent/s to build confidence in the water with their baby, showing them positive play activities to help little ones gain confidence and breath control.

As the baby becomes a toddler, and can follow simple commands, the teacher focuses on working with the child, to kick independently on a noodle, and to submerge and come off the platform unaided. We also look for an ability to wait safely on the platform, with a toy, while the parent and teacher are further away.
We teach children from the age of 2, or straight from the Bubble Babies programme, in our group sessions. There are no more than 6 children per group, and always plenty of lifeguard cover on the poolside, watching the swimming platforms. Children are taught on an individual basis, working one at a time in level 1, and up to two at a time in level 2, always with the teacher in the water and with no more than 6 children per teacher.
We offer individual or group tuition for adults and have a variety of slots to suit your diary. Because our facility is exclusive, we can offer you the time, privacy and experience needed to help you learn to swim. When you come along at first, you may be feeling very frightened. Often a negative childhood experience has meant you have avoided being in water for a very long time.
