Charlie's Bistro is a delightful, fully licensed little eatery found on the seafront in the historic Kent town of Herne Bay. Situated opposite the pier it provides panoramic sea views and a warm welcome to everyone. Sit in our air conditioned dining area or enjoy one of our specialities such as 8 hour Braised Beef in Merlot or local Beer Battered Cod & Chips with a glass of wine in our sunny courtyard.

We pride ourselves on sourcing the best local ingredients wherever possible to ensure the utmost quality in all our dishes. Our fresh vegetables can be traced back to local farms, our meat is sourced from a local nearby family run butchers and all our wines & beers are provided through a wine merchants in Broadstairs with over 100 years' experience.

Charlies Bistro first opened back in 2014 by chef/patron Sean Barber with the help of his wife and daughters. Charlie's serves a wide range of Tapas dishes from all over the Mediterranean, French Bistro dishes, British favourites and of course the quintessential Sunday Lunch.

Sean has over 35 years experience in the catering industry and has recently attended further courses at high-end cookery schools including Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Oxfordshire to expand the restaurants repertoire.He is also The CVB Balanced Health Resident Chef (online) and regularly creates menu plans and recipes specifically to meet their client's needs.

What a lovely lunch we normally eat out on Remembrance Sunday but this year we are unable to but we have to say a good home cooked lunch we shall be returning and highly rerecommend this restaurant. Hubby collected friendly helpful staff.

What a find. I brought my kids here one Sunday and was thoroughly impressed with the service, the quality of the food and the welcome we were given by the staff. Highly recommended, and don’t leave without trying the salted caramel ice cream. Superb!

The service was fantastic, amazing and friendly waitresses and the owner came out for a chat too.
We used a Groupon voucher and unlike other places where you get treated like second class citizens we were treated like royalty - kudos to the staff.
Again even with a Groupon deal the food was really high quality and delicious. The hot fish platter and scallops are must orders!
