Clark and Carter's origins began when Steve opened a small recovery and repair business in the village of Silver End in 1982. After a few years, the business out grew the site at Bulldog works and moved to our current premises in the sleepy village of Cressing. The buildings originally belonged to Steve's father in law who is the local farmer in the village.
Clark & Carter are proud to have worked on many award-winning vehicle restorations and this would not have been achieved without our magnificent team of over 30 dedicated and talented staff. We are very lucky to have such devoted and knowledgeable employees whose rare skills and insights are now being passed onto our enthusiastic apprentices.
Our Apprenticeship Program offers apprentices the opportunity to work with highly trained and experienced craftsmen on some of the world's finest motor vehicles. It is a popular and fantastic way to start or further your career. At Clark & Carter we embrace working with young enthusiastic apprentices who are eager to learn skills that are very hard to come by, and slowly fading away.
For the first year Clark and Carter entered our two apprentices Jamie and Stuart Clark for the RRBSA Coach and Harness Makers' Award. With a trip to the Hunt house to showcase all of the contestants projects, it was a chance for all of the apprentice's from all walks of life to come together with one thing in common; classic cars.

The staff in the yard all seemed friendly as well as a well heeled lady I spoke to briefly. The older chap who I was then directed to was pretty rude and after saying it was a BMW I had brought along he just dismissed it and said 'we don't do work on modern cars' (I hadn't mentioned what model or the year of the car, could have been an e9 CSL for all he knew). I spotted a few newer 996
