Sometimes it is necessary to go the extra mile and we always make sure we do. We continually invest in new technologies to remain at the forefront of metalwork production, and we make sure we use technology to constantly improve our customers products. From design to prototype to full production, we offer the full range of precision sheet metal work and other services and will even assemble at the end - a complete one stop shop!
Services
Cambridge Rapid started in a small unit in Saffron Walden, Essex over the last thirty years the company has expanded and at the end of 2018 was located in three interconnected units on the Shire Hill Industrial Estate. 2019 saw the company relocate to Haverhill in Suffolk, supported by a Suffolk Growth Fund grant.
Cambridge Rapid continually invests in new machinery to make sure that the components we supply can be the best they can be. We believe in a multi-skilled workforce, who are confident to supply parts right first time, every time. We are constantly thinking what can be done to improve things, how can we make it better is our mantra, because we believe everything can be improved.
Many people ask why do you need a punch when you have a laser? A punching machine can punch many more holes per minute than a laser! Our punching machine complements our laser to provide a high volume precision process and an unbeatable cost effective solution. Cambridge Rapid have a Trumpf Trupunch 1000, which has 15 stations along with a 10 station multi-tool.
Nitrogen gives superior edge quality and is free from any impurities, as it doesn't react to the melted metal in the kerf, and shields the cutting area from the environment. Compressed air is a much cheaper shielding gas, and often on thinner gauge material gives a very good finish. Our laser cutter can etch a QR code onto your product, making sure the instructions or other information is always available.
If you need help designing you metal components, or want help with material selection or advice, do not hesitate to contact us. As part of our commitment to lean engineering, our staff continually work to improve the design of your products, whether to allow them to be made in a more cost effective way, or simply to improve performance or reliability of the final product.
