Whether you come for the love of performing or whether you come with dreams of having a performing career. Jesters is about nurturing your talent and making sure you have fun by taking part in creative drama, funky and fun choreography, and vocal training in musical theatre and pop styles; all whilst making new friends in a relaxed environment.
Services
Jesters Theatre Academy was founded in 2012 and is run by a West End Musical actress and a highly experienced performing arts teacher. Together they have made Jesters THE place to discover your talents and sense of adventure. The atmosphere at Jesters is happy and relaxed. We believe in learning skills and techniques through fun, and regularly perform full scale productions on stage aided by our professional sound and lighting technicians.
Broadway Babies is our popular Musical Theatre class for the youngest members of Jesters Theatre Academy. We introduce the magic of Musical Theatre to your child by teaching them simple routines to songs from all the best musicals. Singing in the Rain, Les Mis, Annie, Barnum, Mary Poppins and many more!
Twinkle Toes Tots Ballet is a ballet class for 2 - 4 year olds. The class teaches the very basics of ballet through use of set exercises and imaginative play. The children progress through three levels in this class which is tracked by their "ballet book" which they get to take home and they accumulate stamps through the terms each time they achieve something within the level.
Pierrots is a ballet class for school age children. The class teaches the fundamentals of ballet through use of set exercises and creative tasks. The class follows along the IDTA and ISTD syllabus and children are separated in age / grade appropriate groups and taught separately as there are two teaches in the class.
Our Junior Jesters learn techniques and life skills that enable them to 'think on their feet', gain self-esteem and get he comfortable in standing up in front of peers and audiences. Juniors also work towards examinations within the IDTA Musical Theatre and Freestyle syllabus. These exams are not compulsory and are there as an option for the Juniors to gain awards and certificates.

Jesters is a great place. My child is always asking to go there even on days that it doesn't run. Annie and Charlotte have been amazing for my son and he has become more confident and creative since joining. Annie is really approachable and will do anything she can to help you. This really is a truly friendly and family oriented theatre school.

I have experienced a couple of Jesters classes, with my children. My children thoroughly enjoy the classes they are fun and friendly. They treat you as their family when you are there.
My youngest had enjoyed going to Broadway babies in Kingsland church Colchester. He really enjoyed going there but had started school so he started going to the after school drama lessons instead.
We have also recently done 2 of the summer workshops. Dumbo and Signing choir, these were amazing really fun and informative for the signing choir they learned how to sign 3 popular songs.

As a parent I have been with Jesters for about 5 or 6 years now (so felt I should probably leave a review) my eldest attended Broadway Babies and now Jesters School drama club, as well as holiday workshops and my youngest is a Broadway Babie and also attends the drama and workshops. I didn't know Annie before taking my eldest to classes all those years ago and she was (and still is) always welcoming and friendly. She makes an effort to interact with all the children. Which must be tough when it's a large class. The classes are varied and the exercises/activities are inclusive, creative and fun

Weird little group, drama teacher Annie is nothing more than a bully to some of the kids. Any outsider watching would be shocked at how she treats the children that she does not favour or is friends with.

Annie is a great teacher, she has a unique style about her teaching methods which are tailored to all of her students. She is fair and supportive to all. She is a qwirky character which I think is why most adults love her and the children can relate to her.

Jesters is a fantastic place and Annie is a fantastic teacher. Not only is she fully qualified at what he does, she also loves it. Annie and the other Jesters teachers are friendly and kind and, if you're reading this, definitely sign your child up! (Although the fact that sheshas a waiting list speaks for itself 😋)

Jesters provides fun and innovative dance, singing and drama classes in an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. My daughter has been attending the Chelmsford classes for several years and has had some amazing opportunities to perform at Disney, the West End, local theatres and events, as well as in-house productions. Their repertoire is eclectic, diverse and inspiring, and is always delivered in a supporting and nurturing way. The teachers are all very accomplished and have lots of professional experience in both the industry and teaching. They are also very approachable and objective and will always

Been taking my child here for about four years and have to say while she loves amateur dramatics this is not the place to take them to. The atmosphere is catered for a small group of friends of the company and any outsiders are picked on by 'teacher' Annie. For a drama/dance lesson all that is done is games being played and lots of awkward tension.
