Darlington Indoor Bowls Club
Darlington Indoor Bowls Club opened in 1980 on the site of the original North Road Locomotive Works and close to the first passenger railway station in the world. In 2012 the playing surface was replaced after a successful bid for lottery funding from Sport England. The club provides an 8 rink, international sized, flat green bowling facility open to both members and the general public with the capacity to accommodate up to 64 bowlers.

New bowlers of all ages are always welcome and you can have a free, no-obligation, 'taster' session if you've not tried bowls before - just call in or contact the club to arrange a suitable time or watch out for our advertised open days.
Services
1) Pay as you play for non-members is suitable only for social bowling (jumbles and roll ups) - you must be a member of the club to participate in any of the organised leagues. 2 Membership fees paid monthly are due on the 1st of each month - we recommend paying by standing order to ensure your membership is always up to date - ask at reception for details of how to set up your standing order.
Come along to our open days and experience indoor and short mat bowling, meet the coaches and refreshments are available all day. 16 teams from across the North East entered. The competition this year was won by Janice Wilton and Vera Heppell from Hartlepool. Sadie Lynch was on hand to present the prize money and the trophy.

My partner is a member of the indoor bowling club & loves it. The people & the staff who work there are all friendly. The bowling green itself is immaculate, there are open days to see what it's like & tutoring for you to have a go to see whether you want to do it. There is a wide range of ages & abilities who bowl. There are a range of bowling on offer - some people go for a roll up, there are jumbles & opportunity to play in a league. There are options re membership you can become a full time member or pay as you go. Best contact the bowls club direct or check on their website for more details
