To maintain a healthy and attractive lawn takes more than just a quick mow every couple of weeks. It's a year round task, with the bulk of activity being in the spring & early summer months when it should be lightly trimmed once or twice a week! Scarifying ( or Lawn dethatching as it's sometimes known ) is an excellent way of keeping your lawn healthy all year round. Just below your grass and right above the line of the soil, there rests a layer of leaves, stems, and roots, some living, and some dead. This is all woven tightly and is known as thatch.
