Paul Rigden has been producing high quality bespoke joinery in and around East Sussex since 1986 when he completed his traditional 6-year apprenticeship. The woodworking heritage goes back much farther than that: the immediate Rigden lineage includes boat builders and sawmill owners. He is passionate about his work with wood and this is reflected in every job he does.

The type of work produced ranges from simple furniture repairs to large construction projects and even windmill repairs. The highest quality material is hand picked for its suitability to form, function and durability, and if appropriate, cost. Whether carrying out repairs to an old oak door or building a high quality oak-framed building extension, attention to detail is exemplary and the finest traditional methods of construction are used.

Robustness is obviously vital for most building frames. Often, the structure must support the heavy load of a roof and possibly a storey above, and of course, it will also need to withstand the huge forces of nature; any failure could be catastrophic. Your frame will be designed to make the most of the material's strength.
Let an expert manage it. Someone who has spent all their working life involved in construction, and before that, surrounded by people who have. Someone who will allow you to have as much or as little input as you want. Someone who is used to dealing with not only the various trades and trades people, but also those unforeseen circumstances that occur during any building project.
Combine your specifications, requirements or preferences with knowledgeable material selection and expert craftsmanship to produce very personal and fine wood products. Wood fixtures, such as: architraves, skirting and architectural mouldings can be specified and made to order as needed.

If you live in a listed building our traditional construction methods and experience allows us to produce work to the high standards necessary to maintain the building's integrity. The material selected for your job is not based only on the type of wood. Factors, such as the way the wood is cut are also important to its appearance and also its strength.
Doors are usually the last thing we see and touch before leaving our home and the first thing we make contact with when returning. They represent and provide our security and our warmth. Our front door is what usually greets our visitors, our friends and family, but it should also keep others firmly outside our house.
