What started as a diversification from the family forestry enterprise in the 1980s has grown into a thriving Activity & Glamping Centre welcoming over 10,000 visitors annually. As a small family business our staff are all part of the family. We have a small crew of permanent staff, and a growing family of seasonal staff who return each summer.
I was once showing some teachers around Oaker Wood when one of them asked how did it all start, how did a 175 acre woodland, in the middle of rural North Herefordshire, become one of the largest Outdoor Activity Centres in the Midlands? The question inspired me to add this section to our website, for those who are interested to read how it all began.
Meet the Oaker Wood family. If you've visited us before you'll no doubt recognise these faces, and probably a few of the characteristics described! The boss, (or at least he thinks he is!) better known as Dickie, founded the company back in 1989 and now deals with all sales enquiries. He is well known for his constant reminiscing about "the good old days", something the staff will tell you is a great cure for insomnia!

Absolutely amazing. Went for clay shooting and had so much fun thanks to Chris and Sam we stayed on and enjoyed Quad Biking too. Was great to have the same instructors for the 2 activities as we already built a relationship. If we had more time, we would have tried to stay for more activities. So much fun in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Absolutely love it here! Visited for the first time in 2020 and returned this year again. Me and my friends stayed in one of the glamping villages which is surrounded by natural beauty and wildlife. Did the quads both times as they were so much fun. Can't preach enough how friendly and helpful the staff are here, highly recommend!

I went on a school trip. I did the high ropes and low ropes. High ropes was to climb a 18 metre tree, but you are harnesses and fully strapped. At one point i was about to fall off, but i was strapped so i felt safe. I also did zipline which was so fun. As part of the low ropes there were many team building activities which was really fun. They also offer paint balling. I would definitely recommend this place.

We had a fabulous morning quad biking here. Both the staff that looked after us were very professional, everything was ready for us and the setting was lovely.
We ranged in age from a 12 year old novice to a middle-aged dad who'd don't it once or twice before. We were well briefed any all the equipment was clean and well-maintained.
The biking itself was superb, with a few practice laps before heading out into the woods. Highly recommended!

Amazing weekend! We went for a hen weekend, the exclusive glamping site is amazing, the staff are super friendly and helpful, especially the owners. The activities we did were so much fun, we did the code breaker activity in the morning (admittedly I found the actual code bit quite hard, but the activities before hand were really good fun and our teamwork paid off). The staff then made us hotdogs for lunch (they happily cooked my own gluten free sausages and had them ready with the rest and bought them up to our kitchen area all together).
