Straightline Aviation (SLA) was approached by the leading original equipment manufacturers to establish an operating company and work with them to develop both their product and the market. It is generally not the business of aircraft manufacturers to own and operate their own product and due to SLA having a longstanding history of operating a helium assisted airship fleet, Lockheed has designated SLA as its preferred hybrid airship operator.
Mike's roots are in marketing and PR which is where he discovered the power of aerial advertising. This led him to form Lighter Than Air Ltd. In 1988, in partnership with Sir Richard Branson, Mike formed the Virgin Airship and Balloon Company. VABC would quickly grow to become the world's largest aerial advertising agency, operating over 70 aircraft in 30 countries, for blue-chip clients like Goodyear, Budweiser, Met Life and Sanyo.

Lockheed Martin has invested more than 20 years to develop the hybrid airship's technology, prove its performance and ensure there are compelling economics for various markets who would benefit from using this platform. More than 10 years ago, the team built and flew the technology demonstrator known as the P-791, which successfully demonstrated all the technologies needed to make this real.
In May, RAD-AID delivered IV contrast CT training for radiology and nursing staff, residents and faculty in Guyana. Shipped and implemented over 50 medical-grade imaging monitors donated to Africa and South America, and expanded its RAD-AID USA Women's Health outreach sites to increase breast and cervical health navigation and health care access for women of color.
