Welcome to Bloomvale House, home of the Thatch Restaurant & Coffee Lounge, Gift Shop & Ballydougan Pottery Courtyard Cottages. Bloomvale House, an historic listed grade II thatched house was built in 1785 by a Huguenot family named Gasgoine. Originally a Linen Merchant's house, Bloomvale was a centre for receiving and final processing of linen from the many out-weavers who lived in local cottages.
This house has for generations been associated with craft so it was fitting in 1996 when its present owner Mr Sean O'Dowd bought the property and restored Bloomvale House and its outbuildings. Take time to meander through the historic 18th Century thatched House, now the Gift Shop, then relax in the Restaurant and Coffee Lounge and enjoy fine Ulster cooking at its best, freshly prepared in our kitchens using the finest local produce.

Bramley Apple Cottage which opens into the courtyard retains many of its original features such as wooden floors and high vaulted ceilings, yet recognising the desire for modern comfort in your "home from home" has been fully equipped and decorated to a high standard. This wonderful stone cottage sleeps four people in a double & twin bedroom (three steps down into twin bedroom).
Wheat Loft Studio Apartment (first floor loft conversion sleeps 2: 1 x double) was once a fine old stone Wheat Barn. Now sympathetically and creatively converted, it is the ideal location for a romantic hide-away. A perfect studio apartment for two people, you enter Wheat Loft having ascended an external staircase in the courtyard.
In 2004 Gaskins Grove Cottage our third listed stone barn (circa 1785) was renovated & converted into modern comfortable accommodation (accessible for the less-able Guest and their Family). A bright & homely cottage which sleeps 6 persons (1 x double & 2 x twin bedrooms) it is ideal for all the family or for a group of friends to take a break or use as a base for exploring Northern Ireland.
Dobson's Corner named after the second family to live at Bloomvale, is a lovely old two storey brick Barn conversion (circa 1785) with a corner site within the courtyard at Ballydougan Pottery. Whilst still retaining its character it has all the modern facilities to be "home from home" for 5 people (1 x double bedroom downstairs & 1 x single & 1 x twin bedrooms upstairs).

We had a gorgeous meal here as a treat for my very hard to please bit much loved mum. The menu has a wide variety of choice , the service is outstanding and the ambience with the lit stoves and Christmas garlands was just perfect. We had the loveliest time and also made several purchases the wee pottery section and gift shop ( the lady there is just adorable )
Most importantly our wee mum was very happy and that says it all !

Wouldn’t recommend it! Highly over priced- £3.95 for a Latte. £4.40 for a Mocha. Crazy!! It used to be expensive, now it’s ludicrous. Service really slow. Waitresses weren’t friendly. Nothing special about food either. Won’t be going back. Cheaper to have coffee in 5* hotel in London. No idea where they are getting their prices from!? If you’re going to charge these prices, service must be exemplary, food outstanding, and a great atmosphere. You’re offering none of these!
