Services
There are many types of damp that can affect your home or workplace in Essex, East London, or North London. Here at Property Care Services Ltd, we bring decades of combined experience to every damp proofing job we take on. Our small team of professional damp proofers work quickly to identify and eliminate the cause of your damp problems, letting you restore your property to its former condition.
If you have noticed a patch of damp in your property, there is every chance there are more examples that you have not seen. Arranging for a full damp survey and report allows you to determine the full extent of your damp problems and also lets you prepare a plan for tackling it. Damp surveys and reports are also useful for landlords, estate agents, and insurers for proving the existence (or otherwise) of damp in a property being sold or let.
Woodworm is a generic term for a range of beetles native to the UK, including the common furniture beetle, house longhorn beetle, wood-boring weevil, and death watch beetle. These insects lay eggs in the crevices of your woodwork which, when they hatch, burrow down deep into the wood. Here the growing larvae feed on the cellulose that holds the wood together, weakening the timbers.
Rising damp, penetrating damp, wet rot, dry rot, and condensation all have one thing in common: they can be devastating to your property. Once you have eliminated the cause of the problem, you are often left with significant damage that needs repairing. From crumbling plaster and saturated timbers, to eroded mortar and loose brickwork, the damage can be extensive, especially if damp and rot has been allowed to fester for some time.
For many of our customers, once we have dealt with their damp problem, we are faced with another issue - that of their plastering and rendering. Both these materials are easily damaged by prolonged exposure to rot, as they absorb much of the moisture and then start to crumble and desiccate as they dry out.

I am writing about a fan installation done at a shared property in North London.
The installation was all done with trunking as surface mount which is not ideal. This was not pre agreed by the flat owner.
When one of the fans went wrong 2 1/2 years later we were initially fobbed off with it should have been serviced every year (at exorbitant cost). When we went back and pointed out that warranty exclusions cannot include parts that are not affected by servicing (or lack of) they then said the guarantee was 2 years. After checking with the manufacturer the guarantee is 5 years.
