Morthanveld Publishing
Welcome to Morthanveld Publishing Ltd - my name is Andrew Baker and I set up this site (and in fact the whole company) in order to take advantage of many years of experience as a composer, arranger and typesetter of music for amateur performers and my equally lengthy experience in the commercial print industry.

This website is all about the services I can offer to musicians - including writing new music, editing, typesetting, designing and printing supporting material, creating websites and helping to write funding bids for arts funding bodies.
Services
Over many years of preparing my own scores for performance and publication (or, as a conductor, preparing other people's for performance) I have gained a great deal of experience in typesetting and editing music, and I am now able to offer a comprehensive set of publishing services.

This includes music typesetting using one of the music publishing industry's standard packages (Sibelius), editing and/or proofreading music that has already been typeset, designing support materials such as covers, flyers, banners and even websites and printing and binding services.
The World Rejoicing (Symphonic Variations on a Lutheran Chorale) was jointly commissioned by the British Open Brass Band Championship, and the National Brass Band Associations/Federations of the Netherlands (NBK), Belgium (VLAMO), Switzerland (SBBV) and Norway (NMF), to be used as the top section test-piece for their National/Open brass band competitions in 2020/21.
This short concert prelude is ideal for marking a musical birthday - if your band, or a supporter, or even one of your audience is celebrating! This short work for brass band was written in 1982 for a concert to celebrate the 80th birthday of Harry Mortimer, one of the great figures in the world of brass bands.
A Short Ride in a Brass Machine was written in 2006 to mark the 140th anniversary of the Brighouse and Rastrick Band and first performed in the Central Methodist Church in Brighouse by Brighouse and Rastrick conducted by James Gourlay. The title refers to the orchestral composition A Short Ride in A Fast Machine by the American composer John Adams which provided some of the inspiration for the work.
