Elderholme Nursing Home was originally conceived in 1990 by local citizens with a vision to enhance their community and provide a safe, professional facility for local people in need of a residential care facility.
Forming the Wirrelderly charity (registered charity number 700121) a board of trustee directors and local volunteers launched Elderholme Nursing Home, donating their time and expertise to establish a much needed service to local residents and healthcare organisations.A board of trustees continues to meet every month donating their time and experience in the same spirit of generosity that marked the founding of the charity.

Services
Elderholme Nursing Home is an independent and non-for profit organisation, registered with the Charity Commission as Wirrelderly charity, providing residential and nursing care for people from but not limited to Merseyside and Cheshire regions. To relieve the aged and infirm particularly but not exclusively those who are residents in the Borough of Wirral.
As a not-for-profit charity our primary motivation is the highest possible level of care for our residents, and to this end we invest heavily in training and facilities to maintain a high standard of service.
We have a high staff to resident ratio to ensure that our residents receive prompt attention, and all of our care staff are carefully recruited and rigorously screened to ensure that they demonstrate courtesy, compassion and kindness in their day to day dealings with our residents. The vast majority of our care staff are NVQ qualified, and all of our care staff receive full training before becoming part of our team.

As a not-for-profit organisation Elderholme Nursing Home is committed to providing value for money to our residents and their relatives without compromising our high standards of care and service. Depending on their personal financial situation, a resident can either pay the fees privately, fully funded by the NHS or receive contribution to costs by social services, all dependent on financial and health eligibility criteria.
At Elderholme Nursing Home we strive to create a warm, friendly and enjoyable environment for our staff as well as our residents. If you are looking for a rewarding and satisfying role as part of the Elderholme family we are looking for people to join us. If you would like any further information about any of the roles shown please contact Carolyn Gregory.
At Elderholme Nursing Home we strive to make it as much our residents' home as it is ours. We always remember that your relatives are individuals with their own history, experiences, personality and character and we endeavour to make them a part of the Elderholme family in a warm and caring environment.

Much to our distress and after caring for our father at home , my sister and I had to do what to us was unthinkable and admit that dad needed residential care. Having seen the previous reviews on here and initially having no choice we were horrified that he had been placed at Elderholme.....how wrong we were! This is an amazing care home. As a registered nurse myself I feel well able to make these comments. We visit at all times of the day or evening , weekdays, weekends and never fail to find dad beautifully cared for with his every need catered for right down to his home made cake. He is respectfully

A shocking lack of basic care.
Seem unable to consider those unfortunate to stay with them as fellow human beings.
Often denied even the most basic of choices such as what to eat, drink, or wear.
When clearly displaying obvious signs of discomfort or distress, sometimes including crying out, staff showed no recognition.
Left literally shivering with cold, despite plenty of clothing and blankets being available. Staff just didn't seem to think that even this basic comfort, which would have been the work of seconds was worth their time.
A stark lack of knowledge displayed by trained nursing

Utterly abysmal care for anyone unable to clearly articulate their needs and advocate for their own interests. Medication was managed so poorly as to be unsafe, and basic comfort, such as adequate warmth, was not provided to a minimally acceptable standard. My mother suffered here, and I strongly recommend that anyone with vulnerable relatives should avoid Elderholm.
