We work with people over the age of 16 who are experiencing mental ill health and other issues that impact on their ability to live a meaningful and fulfilling life. Birchwood Highland relies on the help of the public through donations and fundraising events to deliver much of its work. Every donation we receive is greatly appreciated.

If you would like to organise an event to raise funds for Birchwood, please let us know and we will help you in any way we can. Error: Unsupported get request. Object with ID 'posts' does not exist, cannot be loaded due to missing permissions, or does not support this operation.
Services
Established in 1987 as a charity working with people experiencing mental ill-health, supporting them in their journey to recovery. Throughout these years we have maintained our position at the cutting edge of mental health recovery, leading on excellence and advancing innovation in the sector. Today, whilst we have retained our expertise in supporting people with mental ill health, we also work with other groups providing personalised support.
Birchwood Highland's Board of Trustees are members of the public who have particular skills and experience that they can bring to the company in a voluntary capacity. They play a very important role in the company in terms of making key strategic decisions and monitoring the company's progress from an external perspective.
We provide community support services in the Inverness, Easter Ross, Lochaber and Caithness areas. We provide a range of community-based support from our offices in Inverness, Invergordon, Fort William and Wick to help people with things like maintaining a tenancy, managing money, finding and accessing specialist support in their community, building and strengthening social networks and finding employment.
The Recovery Centre provides a variety of accommodation comprising of bedsits, studio apartments and flats as well as one self-contained cottage, situated in the grounds. As well as communal lounge, living, and dining areas, the Recovery Centre offers a bright and airy sun lounge and extensive garden space.
Under Birchwood Highland, the project HiMRA (Highland Migrant & Refugee Action) was established in 2018 to empower and bring together people who identify as migrants and refugees, to strengthen community integration and social inclusion in the Highlands of Scotland. Building on the findings from Birchwood Highland's 'Migrant Matters' research, the project seeks to fulfil the need for supports to be enduring, community based and community led.
