No time pressure over lock operating times on your first day - you can set off down Loch Lochy from our pontoon at any time. If you are late arriving or just want to chill out after a long drive there is no need to rush off - you are welcome to spend your first night on our pontoon amidst spectacular scenery.
Stretching for 23 miles, Loch Ness is said to contain a volume of water greater than all the lakes and waterways of England and Wales put together. Room for a few mysteries perhaps? You will certainly have heard of Loch Ness and to make your cruise more enjoyable it may help if we tell you something about this remarkable stretch of water. The Great Glen of Scotland, is arguably the most significant geographical feature in Britain, with the country's highest mountain, Ben Nevis to the south and its greatest lake, Loch Ness to the north.
From Fort Augustus there is complete contrast as the canal winds its way between the islets of the shallower Loch Oich. The beautiful countryside round Loch Oich is part of the Aberchalder Estate - check their website for more information about this spectacular area.
There are three mooring pontoons in Loch Oich; the Easternmost one is suitable for a short stay to visit the ruins of Invergarry Castle or the hotel, while the one on the N. shore at the Western end is ideal for a shopping stop at the Well of the Seven Heads store.At the SW corner you can tie up at the Great Glen Water Park, where there is a restaurant and coffee shop.

Laggan to Loch Oich ( Great Glen Water Park where one can kayak, go white water rafting, eat, drink, swim/sauna), then on to the pretty village of Fort Augustus to learn more about Highland Life at the Clansman Centre and travel down a staircase of 5 Locks through the centre of the village. On entering Loch Ness, look out for the Monster and cruise on to Drumnadrochit, centre of Monster Hunting activities and exhibitions.
