The Old Smithy Recording Studios have been providing top quality recording and mixing services for over 40 years. Established in 1977 we are one of the West Midlands largest recording studios. Completely custom built for purpose with a large control room and a HUGE live room. We have decades of experience recording, with sessions ranging from solo artists all the way up to 50+ strong choirs and 30 piece orchestras.

Outstanding acoustics (designed by Keith Slaughter - Abbey Road, Odyssey Studios), state of the art technology and professional, experienced engineers; make the studio an ideal location for ANY type of recording and mixing projects. We currently run a highly capable Pro Tools system and our acoustically balanced control room allows us to capture every last detail of your performance with confidence.

You are welcome to book into our fantastic sounding live room and make use of our mic locker and equipment collection. We can help you set up the room, record your music then give you the multi-tracks at the end of the session to take away and mix at your leisure. Got a great recording, but not happy with the mix?

Absolutely loved today! I had a stroke 5 years ago and lost the use of my left hand , massive thing if you play piano 🥴 I have been relentless for the past 5 years retraining my left hand and today recording… the tracks to celebrate the fact the stroke didn’t kill me was a dream come true … look out for the #lobsterpianist #bucketlistshizz

We held my daughter’s 9th birthday party here and it was a fantastic experience. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and Woody was so patient and friendly. Beautiful studios and a great little area to relax and make drinks etc The final product is superbly produced and the turnaround from recording to production within the timescales of the party was so impressive. In the process of recording a CD here. Woody is brilliant, helpful, understanding and patient especially with our unusual instruments! Results so far looking good - may well change this to 5 stars by the end of the recording.
