Currently we are the only members of the Sewing Machine Trade Association in the area and we have a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer you whatever your sewing machine requirements may be.

About Us Report

Barcham Sewing Machinery was established in 1946 by John Barcham Snr from a small independent workshop repairing and rebuilding industrial machines in the East End of London where he served the then vibrant sewing machine trade. John Snr went on to open two shops in London, one in Leyton, the other in Deptford.

We sell a wide range of new, used and reconditioned Domestic sewing machines for general use, embroidery, overlocking and embellishing, etc. We supply new, used, reconditioned and rebuilt Industrial sewing machines to all sewing trades including upholstery, sailmaking, soft furnishings, tailoring, horse rugs, boat covers, marquees and leather goods etc.

What are your opening times? Is there parking near your shop? There is on street parking and public car parks nearby. You can park your car outside the shop on the Sydenham Street side to load and offload. Do you collect and deliver? We can collect and deliver locally and can arrange delivery of industrial machines within a wide radius of Whitstable.

After reading the reviews I took my Bernina 830 for a small repair and service. I cannot recommend this shop highly enough the gentleman were quick efficient and a pleasure to deal with.

Sharpened my favourite scissors and pinking shears quickly and at £4 each item saved me a lot of money. I also bought a bobble comb which at £2.20 was £9 cheaper than on line. Possibly phone before you go as sometimes shut at odd times. Nice gentlemen, know everything about their trade.

Have twice been here over a period of 10 years with very old machines which these guys work wonders on. Professional honest craftsmen. Nice spick and span shop too and I lust over the industrial machines with walking feet!
