The Saffron Walden Steam Laundry Company Limited was founded in 1897 and has operated from the same site in Saffron Walden since the early 1900s. Owned and managed by successive generations of the Southall family, the company has gone from strength to strength over the years and currently employs over seventy people in three locations across Essex, Suffolk and Hertfordshire.

Trading under its new name, Saffron Launderers and Dry Cleaners, the company continues to maintain an excellent reputation for customer care and dependable service. Combining over a hundred years of experience with the most up-to-date methods, Saffron aims to provide top-quality laundry and dry cleaning services designed to meet every customer's individual needs.
Services
Saffron has been laundering personal and household items for over 100 years. This service has remained at the forefront of our business, each item receiving the individual attention and skill required to produce the very highest quality finish, from the smallest handkerchief to the largest banqueting cloth.
The commercial division of Saffron's laundry provides local businesses, large and small, with a laundering service for all types of linen and work wear, including uniforms, boiler suits, overalls, white coats and kitchen wear. Some of our larger customers include research laboratories, factories, garages, hotels, colleges, schools, guest houses, health clubs, caterers, pubs and restaurants.
To protect flooring from the spread of dirt, grit and water, Saffron offers a range of non-slip floor mats, which we will change for you on a regular weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis, according to your requirements. Ideal for shops, schools and office or hotel reception areas, our mats will extend the life of your flooring and cut down cleaning costs.
At Saffron, we pride ourselves on the high quality, professional and comprehensive dry cleaning service we are able to offer. Our unit in Gold Street, Saffron Walden, is equipped with the most up-to-date machinery, coupled with an experienced and highly skilled team.

Today's fashions demand a level of expertise and care that only a professional dry cleaner like Saffron can provide and, while we cannot guarantee to remove every stain, we can guarantee that your garments will receive the utmost care at every stage, and be finished to the very highest standard.
Whether you are spring-cleaning, moving, re-decorating or simply wanting to freshen up a room for visitors or a special occasion, Saffron can help with the dry cleaning of your soft furnishings. This includes loose covers from sofas and chairs, bedspreads, blankets, throw-overs, cushion covers and, of course, curtains.

Just BRILLIANT & always great value & reliable - plus more.
Kim & Co have been so supportive, kind & considerate; done more for me & much kinder & more caring towards me than any service I've had from any local NHS sites.
Here's two pics of lovely Kim & fellow employee with Dylan!

My husband's suit came back very clean but they put a crease right up to the waistband of the trousers! Doubt we will be going back.

Saffron Launderers completely ruined my wedding sari and refused to compensate me for their mistake. They did a test to see if it would go through the process and confirmed with me that it was safe to be dry cleaned. A week before my wedding, I received a phone call saying the beads had melted onto the sari and instead of being understanding towards me, they would rude and defensive on the phone saying that their colleague to it home took peel off all the beads. Because it was last minute and this sari was passed down to me from my Aunt, I still wore it to my wedding. A couple weeks afterwards
