Cloughey & District Tennis Club
Website
Tennis is in our blood. Feel the same? Come and try it out - new members and visitors are welcome. We are a small, progressive and friendly community tennis club established in 2008, and based in Cloughey. We have 3 all-weather floodlit courts, (managed by the local Council). We require players to hand sanitise before and after play & observe social distancing on court.

Anyone who has symtoms, waiting for test result, or is isolating or quarantining is prohibited from entering the courts area.
Services
We are a small but active tennis club established in 2008, and based in Cloughey, on the Ards Peninsula in County Down. We play all year round on our all-weather, floodlit courts. In 2016, Ards North Down Council replaced our 2 old courts with 3 new 'state of the art' outdoor carpet courts for all-year-round play.
Cloughey is situated on the Ards peninsula. As well as being the most easterly part of Ireland, it is also the sunniest and driest area in Northern Ireland. Often it remains dry in Cloughey even when rain is forecast. Believe it or not, Cloughey has 1 extra 'dry' day every week compared to Belfast! (A 'dry' day is when no measurable rainfall is recorded).
Follow A20 thru Dondonald, Newtownards, and Greyabbey. Just after Kircubbin take a left towards Cloughey. At T-junction go right and after 300m turn left into public car park from where you will see the tennis courts. Main Road route - follow A1 and M1 to Belfast then go East on A55 ring road (follow signs for Newtownards and Bangor).
Tennis - the best life-long sport you can play! Tennis is a sport that can be enjoyed from the age of 5 to 85, and is truly a 'sport for life'. Tennis is good for your health & fitness - it offers more health benefits and social, developmental and competitive opportunities than any other sporting activity.
We are just the 8th Club to receive the award and join the ranks of much larger and long-established clubs such as Downshire and Windsor. Lauren Smythe, Club Development Officer for Ulster Branch Tennis Ireland presented the certificate to Club chairman Alistair Dunn. She praised the inititives of the Club in junior coaching and outreach through Parks Tennis.
